some of the drivers bringing mail up to the d.os during the talks of 2010 were saying ''well we are all voting for it''....it mainly affects the delivery staff, not us. and with us being linked to the d.o. we will get the full supplement......its this sort of crap talk that riled up many delivery offices into a rage. now its dog eat dog. split membership.

Because they were advised to.
Because there was no plan B.
Because of the financial carrots dangled in front of them.
Because they believed it was a good deal.
Many reasons........

But one thing is clear - the BT2010 agreement was voted in by people like me and you and the people we work with.
Deliveries.
Even if all of the 50% who didn't vote were delivery staff, the MC staff still couldn't have voted in the deal by themselves.
I simply cannot believe that ANYBODY who is in deliveries believed it was a good deal. even if they were brainwashed to believe it was good, even the carrots....we were advised to vote yes at the roadshow, and it was like putting a red flag to a bull. they were told in no uncertain terms to f**k off. why would you want unlimited d2ds and deliveries increased to 5 hrs. no amount of weedling and cajoling should've swayed ANY d.o. staff. I know mail centres are outnumbered by us. so it begs the question....HOW THE f**k WAS IT VOTED IN......vote counting , had to flawed. maybe because half of d.o. staff didn't vote and ALL mail centre staff did.

Personally I'd like to tell amazon to go #### themselves . Other companies like BT have tried to go it alone in the past and end up crawling back when rivals can't cope and make a mess . It may have short term implications but long term benefits if we play hard ball

Every time we have been on strike in the last 10 years Amazon pop up as Royal Mail Attack Dog and threaten to go elsewhere. At the start of the year after we were advised to vote yes on the AFG deal because Amazon will not tolerate IA. Weeks later Amazon announce they will be phasing out using Royal Mail and setting up their own Network. Now hey presto! they make a deal with Royal Mail without consulting the CWU.

So we have no idea if a better deal could have been struck and no data on how genuine Amazons threat to walk away is and no way of telling if Royal Mail are using the deal to earmark mail centre cuts leading to franchising in the fraud postal market we are pretending to compete in.

Unlimited D2D because work is better than no work (No work means no jobs) and to try and prevent TNT from using D2D as a way to subsidise their entry into deliveries.
5 hour deliveries (though I don't think many people have those) to protect full time jobs. If you've only got 2 hours indoor work, then you've got a 5 hour delivery to make up a full-time day. (Though I suspect you must have a high f/t to p/t ratio)
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Only 21,000 voted No - if all were delivery members then MCs would still need roughly the same amount of delivery members voting with them to get the 46,000 Yes votes recorded.

Sorry Dave, even though I was a No vote, Deliveries did this to themselves by either voting to accept it, or worse by not voting at all. (albeit some members complained they never got a ballot paper, but not 60,000).

Lets face it the deal was S**T but the majority voted it in....you reap what you sow.

The CWU & RM have learned a valueable lesson.....throw just enough money at people, and you can have whatever you want...

Back to the topic...

My understanding of what this LTB relates to, is a proposal for Amazon to directly inject Tracked 24 / Tracked 48 parcels into the Royal Mail network, much further down the pipeline, presumably by pre-sorting the parcels and dropping them off at Delivery Offices.

But we are talking here about parcels that are currently handled by DPD, Hermes and our other competitors (possibly even parcels currently delivered via their Amazon Logistics offshoot). This is work that currently does not enter ANY Royal Mail site, anywhere. So I don't see how dropping off parcels at DO's - parcels that would otherwise be in the hands of our competitors - can be anything other than an increase in work. More work coming in means increased job security.

If, however, they are using this proposal as a 'test bed', to mask a hidden agenda to eventually put ALL amazon packets directly into DO's, then that would have huge implications for Mail Centres and RDCs. South West RDC, in Bristol, has a daily diet of amazon packets and if all of those packets completely bypassed SWRDC and the Mail Centres, that's a huge change and a huge drop in volume, leading to job losses. At worst, it could make that RDC and many MCs economically unviable, leading to outright closure

This sounds like a variation on DSA. Our licence says we need to negotiate DSA arrangements in good faith otherwise the regulator can make a determination and force us to deliver mail for other operators.
