It is blatantly obvious from the wording of this LTB that RM has already entered into an agreement with Amazon to allow access to our D.O. network, that will not be reversed,It would be commercially humiliating, neither will the business risk the situation where Amazon parcels are turned away from our D.O.s. that would be even more humiliating

All that is left is another "Joint Statement" to molify the troops and make a bad situation palatable because anything else will cost work and jobs. This is the reality of the situation facing us but members still want to write out P739s in the office, nest D2D and finish as early as they can....
lol..if it was even remotely funny. :cuppa

No matter how many times they are told to do the job properly there's always that element who thinks that cutting corners and making up the rules to suit themselves is the way to go and as for Amazon dropping at DOs - well my opinion for what it's worth is work is work no matter where it comes from. Not such a good thing for MCs but if the influx is sufficient it may create more jobs in delivery, not certain of course but what is these days?

So if us posties are to start delivering packets dropped off at the DO,s at least we would have some of the business back and bring revenue into the company .Which pays our wages, pensions etc . I don't get the CWU on this one .
I would assume this will mostly affect those areas where Amazon does not intend to deliver its own parcels or where the cost would be prohibitive. There is no "good news" contained in this LTB. Should we blame the union? No, not for a managerial decision taken outside national agreements but it will be the union's reaction that can and should be judged. Nothing short of a complete retraction and a commitment to a negotiated settlement will be acceptable.
In the office where I work Ive not seen any amazon packets other than EU ones for several months now .In the town I live in , I had an amazon packet delivered but not by RM . So if we was to start delivering these packets again its more revenue for the company . I wished RM collected and delivered the lot etc some revenue is better than none .Sadly its down to Amazon what they want to do .

this LTB has been mentioned in our office and the implications of what could likely follow....the reactions of most is ''f**k the mail centre, f**k the rdcs,,, they feathered their own nests from the last agreements. they don't care about us and vice versa....the membership is already split.

I didn't say disregard the MCs or RDCs but we have seen massive changes in delivery over the last few years and RM is in a process of privatisation and the old saying holds true that the customer is king and RM are going to have to compromise on whatever service the customer wants and that's the truth. There's no doubt that MCs et al will be hit but there's little that can be done unless the CWU are prepared to fight to ensure the agreements are upheld and I seriously doubt that.

How exactly did they feather their own nests?
Did the 30 odd Mail Centres that closed with the attendant loss of jobs, not to mention the insecurity and travelling for those that managed to keep their jobs, really feather their own nests?

Or perhaps he means they did it by getting a supplement that £12 less than deliveries.

Of course as we in deliveries outnumber the rest of the CWU membership put together (and not just other RM colleagues) then the MCs must have played a blinder to get so many Delivery Staff to vote their way.

Sometimes Delivery staff seem to blame MC staff for the problems caused by MC Managers who apparently aren't that concerned about how their decisions affect Delivery Offices.

well its pretty much the feeling (in our office anyway) that mail centres would vote it in solely because of the financial reward or dangled carrot and also that it was the D.O.s that were being pissed on AGAIN and not them. f**k you jack im alright so to speak. as I said before.....this membership is already split.

You're semi right in saying the membership is split but not as split as the work force has become in terms of membership and full/part time - in my memory I don't believe I have seen such disparity in the workforce and never again will solidarity be claimed by the CWU because it isn't and hasn't been for a considerable time. Should the union ever decide to engage the workforce as a whole and start and continue a recruitment drive you'll never see the like again.

The Mail Centres can't vote anything in because they are massively outnumbered by delivery.
Half of the Mail Centres have been closed. They weren't winners in BT2010.
Imagine if half of the DOs had been closed.

And don't tell me you still think they get £20/week for D2D and they don't even do any?

no I don't think it,,,,but why would D.O.s vote it in? how many d.o. staff voted for it.

daveyeff wrote:but why would D.O.s vote it in?
Because they were advised to.
Because there was no plan B.
Because of the financial carrots dangled in front of them.
Because they believed it was a good deal.
Many reasons........

But one thing is clear - the BT2010 agreement was voted in by people like me and you and the people we work with.
Deliveries.
Even if all of the 50% who didn't vote were delivery staff, the MC staff still couldn't have voted in the deal by themselves.
