Take this story with a pinch of salt. It looks propaganda to make people think they will get justice at the appeals stage.

Why did the poster only post after the fact finding interview?

There is no justice in companies like Royal Mail because the people who get promoted are either related to or resemble the ignorant bullies who appointed them. These authoritarians do not understand the first thing about the justice everyone in the UK is entitled to.

The UK has become a much more restricted society since the end of the Cold War and we are in danger of losing the British traditions of fair play, free speech and democracy.

I'll take it a face value LinChong as I take yours the same way. Just because the posters experiences are different to yours doesn't mean that they have less value or are less true. After all part of the acceptance of Free Speech, means that people have different motivations for posting what they do.

Im not sure what the benefits would be to make up such a story. It makes RM look inept, so doubt it would be them.

Both managers need sacking for lying and forging such a statement . I would certainly consider taking legal /civil action against these two morons who no doubt cause you much stress and anxiety. Hope all goes well.

Diane, I am shocked at your experience. first off a manager had no right to speak to you the way you said just because you called to say you would not be able to complete a delivery by the end of your duty, for that reason alone I would have taken a grievance against the manager. ITS THE MANAGERS FAULT THAT YOU LOST YOUR COOL AND SWORE. I am absolutely disgusted that they took you down the road of fact finding meetings, and put you through probably horrendous anxiety, whilst waiting for an outcome. Then they dismissed you! shocking treatment and I feel for what they have put you through, you did not deserve any of it. Those 2 managers are a disgrace to RM and a total disgrace to human nature as a whole.

Dismissal seems quite harsh in the fact that you had mitigating factors i.e. your lino probably provoked the situation because you possibly had every right to cut off when you did for example. In our office, we are supposed to inform the gaffer if we think we are cutting off BEFORE we leave the office; but I have heard of some staff having to ring their lino whilst they are out on delivery and I guess it can be a difficult telephone call to make!!

In some ways it can feel like the staff is being bullied into doing the work and I do wonder if linos are trying to bend the rules a little bit in order to get everyone to do the work regardless of time. It is intimidation. Did you ask that you would do the work on overtime instead of cutting off?

Whilst no one condones swearing, I have heard staff use it against each other in the office, albeit not in an aggressive way. The fact finding interviews are designed for you to put your side across. Managers don't usually act alone in this process, they tend to have a sidekick next to them backing them up (even if they were not involved). So this is when you need your Union Rep as Im sure a lot of these cases tend to end up in tribunals to determine whether Royal Mail have followed the correct procedure...
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
