Well it's like this, they have been kept out of the loop and whether its a good or bad thing for us they naturally feel aggrieved because all the decisions RM make could bypass them and sooner or later they'll no longer have a seat at the big boys tablehertsman0 wrote:Surely if Amazon are delivering their own packets they are currently not going through the mail centres now . Re: AMAZON DIRECT INJECTION / MANAGERIAL EXECUTIVE ACTION
A sub postmaster was telling me something along those lines is on its way. Click and collect at your local P.O.blisterfeet wrote:We had a guy come to our office today and said that sky was sending him a new box and that he had to collect it from the local post office, me and the guy I worked with looked at him with a blank expression because we didn't have a clue what he meant. We said have you had a card left to say it's been attempted delivery and he said no they've not sent it out yet but they said I have to collect it from the post office. Maybe companies like amazon are going to drop parcels off to delivery offices and people come to collect them the same as they would if they had a p739 card but without a postie attempting a delivery?

Re: AMAZON DIRECT INJECTION / MANAGERIAL EXECUTIVE ACTION
We've been doing something like this on the international side for years. Big companies pre-sort their shipments into type (letters, flats, parcels) and then pre-bag them by country destination. Everything eventually gets sent to HWDC, where we then add them to everything else going out. It's a big part of the operation for the mail centre.

Does anyone have a comprehensive list of areas where Amazon are not using Royal Mail? My area is unaffected at present and I cant see Amazon being able to replace us easily judging by the amount of DSA packets we get from Yodel/Citylink/TNT
No matter which way you look at it tax dodging Amazon are holding too many cards and it seems Royal Mail like it that way as it allows them to justify major changes via EA leaving the CWU looking like a little boy lost. When Dave Ward recently said 'This Union is Unstoppable' what on earth did he mean.

Re: AMAZON DIRECT INJECTION / MANAGERIAL EXECUTIVE ACTION
If Amazon start dropping off their stuff at DOs, it's not going to be that big a leap to them delivering them themselves, bypassing DOs as well. It could see the end of early runs to DOs as for some DOs without the Amazon, there might not be enough work to justify the early runs

Re: AMAZON DIRECT INJECTION / MANAGERIAL EXECUTIVE ACTION
The biggest problem is that the current CWU Postal executives have become too embroiled in trying to run the company rather than looking after the terms and conditions of the membership.

And that H is the extent of their "muscle" these days. The union made a fundamental error in jumping in the sack with the employer and turning it's attention to becoming a managerial tool instead of ensuring that the members were engaged in all the negotiations and kept on board - now of course RM realise the union has lost the hearts and minds of the membership and no longer hold sway and THAT was precisely RMs aim from the outset. Once the CWU took the bait they have been reeled in time after time with "Joint statement this that and the other" giving a semblance of inclusion when in fact it's just collusion. It makes you wonder how much longer they can pretend to represent the workforce.hertsman0 wrote:I have to agree with you on this one dvb .Union kept out of the loop and throwing the toys out of the pram .dvbuk55 wrote:Well it's like this, they have been kept out of the loop and whether its a good or bad thing for us they naturally feel aggrieved because all the decisions RM make could bypass them and sooner or later they'll no longer have a seat at the big boys tablehertsman0 wrote:Surely if Amazon are delivering their own packets they are currently not going through the mail centres now . Well to be fair the union is only £3 a week so what do you expect to buy for £3 a week.
A change of government for £3 a week.

I spend my life trying to fit in but I always end up standing out.

We'll in truth I expect to get what i pay for and not a second tier of management purporting to negotiate precisely what the employer wants in the guise of looking after the members interests.Cyclopz wrote:Well to be fair the union is only £3 a week so what do you expect to buy for £3 a week.

Re: AMAZON DIRECT INJECTION / MANAGERIAL EXECUTIVE ACTION
£3 a week for I believe somewhere in the region of 80,000 members is nearly quarter of a million weekly income. Many businesses would like to be earning that. If they cannot protect the members against the daily bullying rituals with that sort of clout then they don,t deserve to survive.
