Exactly.janitor wrote:Although I can't see a problem with utilising all paid hours, and when with RM I used to do my fair share of absorption, the problem once again lies with the fact that RM don't employ real managers, just puppets that can't think for themselves, the problem with working all paid hours is,you have management (use that word loosely ) are forcing people who are doing the job properly and their duty takes them to their time, to absorb and go over, while you have people doing their own duty, absorption, and still finishing , an hour or two early and going home, in my old office we had posties going home at 10.30, others where taking till 2.15 proper finishing time for that duty, still being leaned on to go out and do absorption. This is where the whole system falls down, the 10.30 finishers should have been covering the extra absorption, if they did they would still be finished early.

Re: Absorption
But the ones finishing early are needed my the management to do the docket so don't give them lapsing and don't enforce early starting or meal reliefs.
Also when all the early starters are on holiday or ill that's when the bullying starts when nobody to mop up the cut offs and people who have left their lapsing as finishing on time.

Re: Absorption
We had to cut off yesterday, had time to take one street out of the whole row of absorption we were given (on the heaviest day of the week). So today we had to take out today's mail, on top of yesterdays, and it turns out it never went out on Wednesday either because a man came to the door and told me it was the first time in 55 years living there that he hadn't seen the postman in 3 days, although he was understanding when I explained how lapsing works.
This is the 2nd time we've had 3 days worth in the last 3 weeks, it took us 45 minutes today with 2 bags each. It's not even just that we're getting so much when our own walk is already taking us to our time, but other people are getting not even a row and finishing theirs in 10 minutes. If you have 3 days mail surely you get 1/3 as many drops?

Interesting contrasting arguments here.edwards87 wrote: If you have 3 days mail surely you get 1/3 as many drops?
On one thread we have - it takes the same amount of time to deliver 1 letter as 5.
Or as we have here - 3 days mail takes longer to deliver than 1 day.
Wonder which it is?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Absorption
Maybe not 3 times as long, but the extra volume does slow you down, and flicking through the mail when each house has a stack an inch thick definitely takes longer. Not to mention you obviously get 3 days worth of packets, which for weds, thurs and fri is a lot of packets.clashcityrocker wrote:Interesting contrasting arguments here.edwards87 wrote: If you have 3 days mail surely you get 1/3 as many drops?

Model week???TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Well not "Strictly" but if your traffic (volume) is higher than the model week, then you are not going to have any scope to lapse or absorb whether its based on Absence or planned lapsing.enskied wrote:Wrong.. you guys need to have a chat with your area reps. Lapsing is strictly on mail volumes.
