My MP mentioned this, I've just started to read it, so can't make any comments on it yet, but it does involve a few MP's and the Secretary of State.

Good way to not to take sides in the dispute, promote one sides view and not the others.

I've just finished reading it, and TBH, it was fairly sad reading, and he made a very short answer to whether he supports Crozier and Leighton. I'm now sure that the government really would like to wash their hands of RM. I was also disappointed that no-one mentioned the profits that we made in the 90's, that the government took from us. As I say very sad reading.

I know Crozier & Leighton are hate figures for doing what they've done, but it's the government that you help support through the union that have got RM into the situation they're in.

They took money out and did not invest, and are now letting other country's mail businesses into the UK, you don't see this happening in France!

RM needs modernising and the workforce needs to be smaller and many of the practices need changing. Howver screwing over the pension and doing all of this at the same time is bad business. Crozier would admit this, but is now in a corner where he needs to take the state loan, but it has strings attached.

Your mate Gordon is the culprit along with the conservatives of the 1990s! Also have a word with the guys who ran Consignia and screwed up the foreign investments!

We all understand RM needs modernising, would'nt it be a good idea to have all the equipment in place first. Make the workforce smaller!!, with a growing population and s**t loads of housing being built, won't be long before there are walks with the average of 1000 drops...........what a fecking good idea!!

From what I have read, in comparison to today's volumes, it was a fair bit easier back then & clambering up the greasy pole aint work.....so I stand by my original comment.

During my recent visit to Watford sorting office, organised by my colleague Sal Brinton, comments by management and staff indicated that structural restrictions prevent Royal Mail from competing on a level playing field within its own sector. Is the Secretary of State willing to meet me to discuss the underlying structural issues concerning employees and management of the Royal Mail, which may be contributing to the current industrial difficulties?

the £1.2bn investment will upgrade the sorting equipment and introduce flat-sorting macinery across the country, therefore being able to compete with the competition in terms of technology sorting.

RM will not be able to compete on price until they can reduce their cost item. The on;y way you can seriously do this is by reducing staffing levels, and raising productivity via increased mechanisation.

If he means structural in terms of opening the market, then John Hutton will have a massive job on his hands reversing the liberalisation. TNT and DHL aren't going to lie down whilst we raise the barriers.

If he means raising the downstream Access price to competitors they will then find it more economically viable to create their own E2E system and take mail out of the RM network completely.

Opik is attempting to get some kudos by asking an empty question, and he's getting paid for it.

Waste of space and time and he's shafting a Cheeky Girl, need I say anymore about his judgement!
