tbh the managers should do more. everyday we have the same 6 getting out at 830. they get back at 12 - 1pm and nothing is said to them. yet if I leave my lapsing and come back on time at 2.30 im told I need to make more effort and do my lapsing. when the manager could easily give it to those who come in 30 mins on their time and miss their break. but proving the office meets its targets then managers arnt bothered about making it even.

if youre being told on a consistent basis to make more effort then its bullying and harrasment, see your union rep.

They lean on those who will help out and those who say no, they just let them get away with whatever "they" want to do, or not do . It all boils down to the fact RM don't have managers with any man management experience and just employ anybody who applies, regardless if they have the aptitude for the job. Our DOM is not to bad but cannot stand up to anyone with a strong character and just backs down and piles it on anybody else who will oblige. I haven't met a manager in my 7 years with RM who would last a week in my old employment in the food industry, they have no go in them to get the job done, they just disappear into the office and close the door and hope the problems go away.
DOM's are only under pressure because they have not got the balls to stand up for their office.

DOMs are under pressure - budget ...

Linos are under pressure - budget ...

I do my best to help out newbies etc - but I'm under pressure too - but in my eyes it's time - and we at the mail face don't have any spare - why ??? See the first two sentences ...

Unfortunately that "extra mile" is just not there any more - when you do it - and go over for example - you then face the other "extra mile" viz justifying your docket .

So we're all back to - - - - budget

Sad innit ..
"We're under model" - oh no we're not - stick your lapse elsewhere ...

Happened to me as well and i said about certain people finishing early that they should do more he agreed but now they just take longer and instead of finishing 1 hr early get back 10 mins earlier so they cant do anything extra!!

Sounds exactly the same the DO I was working in. Everyone out for themselves and couldn't give a flying fig for anyone else. It's no wonder a lot of newbies leave after a few weeks, it can be a daunting place if you're a sensitive soul and don't stick up for yourself.

I'm now beginning to hate going to work purely coz of the people there. I love the job it's easy and good money. But it rly is getting me down now :(

In what way are people "selfish" in your office? You find the job "easy" and sadly others may not. So I am just wondering exactly what makes them selfish? If you really are finding the job easy you can show your colleagues the way and help them out..?..prep in some D2D for them etc etc

1/3 1/3 1/3 is spot-on. Take the money and run !!!! hopefully very soon the jobs market will pick up and Royal Mail won't have any good staff left. :wave
