What and where for Royal Mail customers?

It transpires – through a recent casual conversation with a senior manager within Royal Mail – that the Callers' Office, in Campbell Street, near to the railway station is scheduled to close next January.

As for the central issue of where its successor is likely to be situated, only a vague reference to the Meridian Business Park was forthcoming.

With a little over five months to go, surely the imperative for Royal Mail in this aspect of customer service has to be securing a suitable venue that will be reasonably central for the city centre and the proximity of public transport facilities. Not to mention a basic short-term parking amenity.

Assuming that the Royal Mail's wide-ranging re-structuring of their mail-processing operations continues to be rolled-out, and the Campbell Street premises do close, it would seem as though the general public could find themselves having to face trekking to the Meridan site to collect their undelivered items of mail.

This would seem to me a meritorious consumer issue for bringing one's MP on board before it is too late.

weve been told for a couple of years our office would be moved out of town to an ind estate the old and those without their own transport would find it difficult to get to.no doubt they dont come into the equation.we wil probbably be told on friday to be closed on monday.this sounds to me to be the thin edge of the wedge,what are the plan.s for the other callers offices

Business as usuall ... 7am - 5 pm ..... wednesday 7am - 8pm and now Sunday from next month noon - 4pm.
Saturday: 7am - 2pm
