How long before your house is repossessed for not paying your mortgage?
How long before the bailiff will pop round for non payment of council tax?
How long before the gas and electric is cut off?
What do we pay for, food in the children's mouths or clothes on their backs?
Its not that bad yet BUT it will come to that for most of us, some sooner than later.
Some with debts already round their necks CANNOT lose money or they will default and fall further into debt.
Some of us are in cloud cuckoo land, others are in the real world.

I'm always amazed that the channels that carry the most adverts for debt-management companies are ones only available to Sky or cable subscribers. Now given that these kind of companies are very good at targeting their advertising to where their potential customers are most likely to see it, what does that tell you ? It tells me that if money is tight, the first non-essential expense people should cut is a subscription to TV content that they have to pay hard-earned cash for. It's a LUXURY, goddamit, compared to food, clothes, gas, electricity, rent / mortgage etc.abbo75 wrote:How long before your house is repossessed for not paying your mortgage?

Several of the people in my office who were saying last week that they 'couldn't afford to strike' and would have to consider crossing to the dark side are paying up to £60/month for Sky TV
So, they'd rather have access to a shitload of channels that they could never possibly have enough time to watch than fight for their jobs, pensions and working conditions ??? The mentality of some people is staggering

Re: strike breakers and "I cant afford it"
In the end it will cost them more i heard of an office up north where strike breakers have had their cars, property damaged on a regular basis and from what i hear they no longer scab is easier to loose a days pay than keep paying out for a new paint job on your motor or a new living room window not that i condone these actions im just saying what i have heard...... It reminds me of that dennis waterman song i like the sound of breaking glass job donetakeyourbreak wrote:Are other posties like myself sick of those scabby ba@@'rds who come out with that old chestnut "I cant afford it" when confronted about why they are not on strike with us? Im sick to death of these people coming out with this. Nobody can afford it!!! If and when we win this deal it benefits these strike breakers aswell. Should the union not get them out? It really annoys me I recon everyone should just ignore them when we go back and maybe just maybe they will go away!!!
Keep Up The Fight

What these strike breakers have not got the intelligence to realise is, that OK, they can't afford to lose a day's pay. If RM's monthly pay proposals are introduced, they will be without pay for the first 28 days.
Morons, who I no longer will speak to. Fortunately, there are very few and far between on my shift, and in the office. Not as if people spoke to them before the strikes, anyway

strike breakers
In the last strike the strike breakers got a brick though their windows, but it's now for me to condone this sort of act.

Most Mortgage firms will allow a holiday - approach yours to see if they are willing. Most are as its less expensive than trying to repossess.abbo75 wrote:How long before your house is repossessed for not paying your mortgage?
Again approach them and see if you revise the payment plan. When this nearly happened to me it took nearly a year to come to this point.abbo75 wrote:How long before the bailiff will pop round for non payment of council tax?
Again same advice. Most companies will try to help for the reasons given above.abbo75 wrote:How long before the gas and electric is cut off?
This is serious advice as its also the most important thing to worry about, sod the bills look after your family first. But have you though of shopping at the cheaper end of the market, or actually in a market. When I changed my shopping habits I was saving £20 - £30 on my budget and I was only shopping for 1 person at the time.abbo75 wrote:What do we pay for, food in the children's mouths or clothes on their backs?
If it does get that bad see your local rep and see if they have a hardship fund you can dip intoabbo75 wrote:Its not that bad yet BUT it will come to that for most of us, some sooner than later.

Those who are on strike are also in the real world and we saw this strike coming way back last year, or at least I did, so I planned for the strike and although my funds are not inexhaustible I am at present not struggling to pay the bills. Mind you I did follow my own advice, I contacted business and most were approachable and accepted the proposals I put to them, as its cheaper for them in the long run. I also save a lot of money by shopping wisely, I used TESCOs before the strikes now I use Aldis and the local market stalls (the fresh veg lasts longer from there and as I am a regular sometimes they throw in something after they have weighed the bags)abbo75 wrote:Some of us are in cloud cuckoo land, others are in the real world.

Re: strike breakers
You do well not to condone it mate. While the scab gets everything it deserves, the idea of injuring a kid is one I wouldn't want on my conscience.dunposting wrote:In the last strike the strike breakers got a brick though their windows, but it's now for me to condone this sort of act.

surely if you have the right to strike - which you all seem very much in favour off - you also have the right not to strike.
Its a two sided coin you know?
A lot of people here bang on about bully boy tactics of the managers etc etc - when really alot of you aren't much more than bully boys yourself.

It was a democratic vote. 77% in favour of not rolling over and giving up. Anyway, shouldn't you be on Hellfail with the rest of the strike breakers?RandomRules wrote:surely if you have the right to strike - which you all seem very much in favour off - you also have the right not to strike.
