Re: have you a future in royal mail!!!
My next door neighbour is a copper and he wants to be a postman. What a numpty
Like, what do these area managers do? They drive around in flash cars, have a conference call, be-little the DOM and that's about it! Until they have a management cull for managers who manage managers (WTF is that all about?) the company will be going down in spirals. Sorry to say that there are too many on fat bonuses creaming it while the third class passengers are left clinging onto drift wood. And don't get me started on this WCM bollocks, what a frigging waste of money that is! How bloody hard is it to put a letter through a pissin door? Ooh, says RM, let's make it as complicated as possible shall we!?
Stupid piggin job
Oh and I put a suggestion in the suggestion box 12 months ago, suggesting they got rid of the suggestion box. Guess what, no one has opened the box to read my suggestion! I'm getting angry now :dcfo :dcfo

Well said. Its pathetic the amount of managers in the chain, I can't remember how many levels of management there are but its rediculous, and all they do check daily stats and pass on messages until it reaches us. Though it's more like a game of chinese whispers.Tuffers1875 wrote: Like, what do these area managers do? Re: have you a future in royal mail!!!
i get on average about 5-8 hours overtime a week on a 28.5 hour contract, that is without SA which i am hoping to get onto within next few weeks! (currently working my week off, 12 hours so far)barbario wrote:If everywhere else is the same,When i look around my MC, i can't help thinking that Royal Mail is in terrible trouble.Virtually zero hours overtime between Monday and Friday indicates just how far the work has dropped off. Personally,i don't feel i have much of a future and can see more jobs coming under fire very shortly.

Re: have you a future in royal mail!!!
No future for me in this crap company, I can't wait to get out. I enjoyed the job until about 6 months ago, but since then it's gone downhill fast and I've started looking elsewhere. I have a recurring dream that I've found another job and make a grand exit telling my manger and colleagues what I really think of them.
The disappointment when I wake up *sigh*

Breaking News!! I have heard that robots will be taking the place of posties in the future
The Robotic Postal Frame (RPF) is designed to Walksort and Prep mechanised mail into workstations. The RPFs are capable of prepping an incredible 600 letters per minute. And the RPFs can even prep un-sequenced manual mail. It works in very much the same way as the CSS machines. A bulkload of mail is placed in the inward sorter tray (the RPFs IST) and is then conveyed three times before finally prepping into the frame.
However, there are no plans to have Robotic postman out on the streets delivering the mail. Early trial indications suggested that although the robots were very efficient and eco-friendly; unfortunately they were not waterproof and kept breaking down. Management noted that they were capable of motoring at around 20 kph though.
Seriously, the future for Royal Mail?? Privatisation can only mean....Fewer offices, probably get rid of the ones in the rural areas first. Fewer posties. Bigger rounds. The growing infestation of packets, tracked or otherwise. Fewer managers?? i cant see many of them volunteering to go back to postal duties !! lol

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: have you a future in royal mail!!!
We are going down the same road as TNT/DHL etc. It will be part time/ minimum wage and something like this....
Manager calls you on delivery ' how much more have you still to do?'
Postman ' after these 20 parcels got 3 bags still to deliver'
Manager ' No overtime so bring back the mail on your time and take out again tomorrow'
P*sh service to the customer cause USO will be gone, less than 50% Ft staff and triple prep and CWU will tell us how lucky we are to have a feckin job
