hourly rate
Won't be long before we're back to £2.97 an hour if this lot get their way.
I've never quite understood how and in what way Executive Action can change negotiated agreements and then there is always the distinction between local and national agreements.
But I reckon the bottom line is that under employment legislation and employer only needs to give legal notice - which I think is six months - to alter any employee's terms and conditions as long as he can persuade an Employment Tribunal that it is economically necessary for the business.
But even if that is the legal position it doesn't mean that RM could achieve it with a strong union in place. That is why they need to destroy this strike and smash the union - the AL 'tipping point'.
That's why I worry about the unofficial action - I know hoy the brothers and sisters who have walked out are feeling and I walked out in Scotland as well on unofficial action for 3 days. I went to the mass meeting intending to support the unofficial action but after listening to all the arguments decided that we had to go back in to stop RM taking control of our strike.
