Re: Getting a job reference from RM?
Old thread, but I'll post for anyone searching.
Now out of RM thankfully.
Mclovin was right about the contents of leavers pack.
Why anyone who hasn't had a leavers pack would argue the point escapes me...
Anyway leavers pack contains:
letter in lieu of ES85 form - this is the only document that states reason for leaving - it is NOT a reference.
Although you could use it as such if favourable.
P45.
The covering letter tells you to contact Pond st. Sheffield for a reference.
The leavers pack does not contain a reference
Ring up and ask for a paper one to be sent - it will have no reason for leaving.
If applying for a job online, just put the Pond st. HR phone number and address as reference contact,
maybe DO / MC where you worked as well.
All you are required to put is official HR contact details.
How do I know this for a fact?
I googled royal mail job reference to see if the paper reference I requested was official policy.
All it has is:
start and end date
Grade
Legal speak declining any responsibility for misleading information.
Thats it, hope someone who escapes finds it useful

Getting a job reference from RM?
hi,
I worked for Royal mail as a Christmas Casual, could please tell me the email address where I can obtain a reference for a new position. The HR one is the main one I think.

Employee References: thirdpartyenquiries@royalmail.com
our personal details and RM pay number, work location and role etc (they'll use it as confirmation) and then as far as I know they send you one.
Its a very basic reference though, date started, finished and the reason for leaving - that's it.
