Re: MOYA'S REPLY
I never hesitate to card anyone.I knock on the door or ring the bell and i am already writing "p739 left" on the packet. It is NOT WORTH THE RISK hunting around for a "safe" location to leave it because one day a customer will complain.I found this out in my 2nd month as a postie,i left a parcel in a recycle bin, customer was on holiday, neighbor took bin out on bin day for her, packet gets crushed.Luckily it was only worth £4 but i have a feeling if it was an ipad i would have not gotten away with it.Since then i have never left a packet in a bin or any other unsecure place.
Tbh i never knock on neighbors either.I have gone to the rouble of delivering the packet if they are not in they can arrange redilvery or pick it up from office.Job done.My back covered.I am not buying into the neighbor delivery thing because i work in some very bad estates where most people have notes/stickers on letterboxes stating not to do just that.

Re: MOYA'S REPLY
It has always been the rule, (which you've all agreed to), not to leave items in an non secure location. Up until now the term used for this has incorrectly been named 'doorstepping' which has lead many of you to misunderstand what is deemed a secure delivery. The Chief Executive of your Employer, whose reasonable instructions you are paid to follow, has reportedly stated that you must not open any doors. I consider that a not unreasonable request and understand what will happen should it be identified that I have failed to follow it, I suggest you all do the same.
Please also bear in mind that the instruction from Moya is currently unsubstantiated so either contact Moya yourself or get the instruction in writing from your DOM and/or DSM.

difference is- homeowner opens porch & sees packet on floorclashcityrocker wrote:When was it ever OK to leave the mail unsecured?Tuffers1875 wrote: why was it ok to leave stuff in porches before and not now?
What is the difference between an unlocked porch and a wheelie bin?
homeowner cannot see packet in wheelie bin, therefor cannot pick it up.

Re: MOYA'S REPLY
It's been in the courier several times that nominated delivery instructions printed on tracked items are official and should be followed, unless you decide the 'safeplace' isn't in the least bit safe. If the item goes missing you followed official instructions and there is no comeback.IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:Special instructions, either on the item or on the addressee's door, are not going to save you from disciplinary action when something goes wrong and the sender/recipient complain.
If the instruction wrote "please put on the French maid uniform (by the bin) and try and jump on the bonnet of the next moving car you see," would you do it?
That ONLY applies to tracked items with printed delivery instructions on though.

The thing that makes them both the same is when a thief sees you put it in the Bin/Unlocked porch and lifts it. That's why it insecure, that's why it shouldn't be done.halfull wrote:difference is- homeowner opens porch & sees packet on floorclashcityrocker wrote:When was it ever OK to leave the mail unsecured?Tuffers1875 wrote: why was it ok to leave stuff in porches before and not now?

Re: MOYA'S REPLY
if they want 1st time everytime like our competitors they must allow us to leave items in unlocked porches eventually & they will.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:The thing that makes them both the same is when a thief sees you put it in the Bin/Unlocked porch and lifts it. As for now, we will all have to watch our competitors deliver in porches & give the customer what they want (1st time delivery) while we fill out cards & cause them the aggravation of having to collect all the time.
Lets see how long it lasts.

Correct a tin box would be a bad idea. A wall mounted post box with a lock on its counted as secure.Lincox wrote:No different to posting it in a Tin Letter Box on the wall.clashcityrocker wrote:When was it ever OK to leave the mail unsecured?Tuffers1875 wrote: why was it ok to leave stuff in porches before and not now?

Re: MOYA'S REPLY
This is a 4 step procedure given you knock on 3 doors and have to fill in a P739 card explaining status of packet and when you think of how many houses you could have delivered to in that time these planners have NO idea of the time scale so is justifiable to waste time knocking on 3 doors writing a P739 card out in the pouring rain were the wind is biting coldholly123 wrote:I THINK ALL THESE WALKS THAT HAVE BEEN DONE BY THE PLANNER ON AN ESTIMATED 25PKTS PER WALK NEED REDOING 1 PKT THEN BECOMES 3 WHEN GOING TO NEIGHBOURS WHERE IS THE TIME FOR DOING THIS EXTRA WORK
