Any f***ing wank toss who's looking round their office sizeing up colleagues, belittling them, giving it large cause they work faster than them is just that,a wank toss.

Point of note:Wank tossers get older and slower as time goes on as well.

It not all RM that make this job so s**t,'some' of our colleagues are more skankier than management!
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I'm not asking the company to get rid of older employees, I'm saying, now we are private, it won't be long until we are deemed either 'up to the job' or not. And unfortunately looking around me at work, many are not. No other company would put up with the attitude and lack of any enthusiasm and poor work rate as RM does. It's staggering, if you've worked elsewhere, that it is allowed to go on to be honest!

If you didn't want a slagging match you may have been better off refraining from criticising all your colleagues in your original post! :speak to the hand

As far as "No other company would put up with the attitude and lack of any enthusiasm and poor work rate as RM does." What planet are you from?????? I have worked in many places before RM and for the majority people worked for the money not for the fun of it! Leave your little bubble for a while and go speak to people in the real world. Go see people working in Sainsbury's, Tesco or McDonalds etc Ask them about their enthusiasm for their jobs! For a vast majority of low level workers
they are paid for their time, enthusiasm is reserved for the lucky few who have good jobs or fat salaries. The work rate for many postal workers is reasonable in a majority of cases, at least from what I have seen. Perhaps your office is full of work shy layabouts and you are just such a super star they can't keep up with you? Little bit of news for you, employers like team players, if you think a cull is coming watch your own back before worrying about others! :speak to the hand
I'm sorry but working at mcdonalds for minimum rate is hardly comparable with earning £10 an hours at RM. for a starter, however s**t the service is and the fact you regularly get served cold food, people WILL continue to go there because to be honest the food tastes good. The only reason RM pay such good wages is because of the strength of the union and the fact that they had no competition for such a long time. Now we have competition, the mentality will have to change at some point. If one person can do the job to a good standard and cost less than another, it's simple maths to see who you would employ if you were the owner of the business.

Trust me, it won't be long until RM will start using people's work rate to decide who deserves a job, rather than how long they have 'worked their bollocks off' for. (Or not in many peoples case)

You've nailed the current way of management thinking right there.

If RM want to run a business on work rate then they had better employ robots. The point and it is a big point you are missing is the unfortunate fact for you that the workforce is human. - Instead of RM constantly jumping on workers issuing conducts every 2 seconds, hauling people in for misdemeanors and constant hassling then maybe, just maybe look at the people you have and find out as an employer what it takes to get the best from them. This is where the mentality should lie.

Every human has their own motivation, find out what makes them tick and click and from there you will have a better workforce. - By constantly applying rules and being a parrot on the shoulder to the workers you may find that respect fly out the window at an alarming rate - apply some humanity - respect just may creep back in, which is one of the biggest steps. Give more transparency, respect, empowerment, motivation to a workforce and you will start to get a lot back from them.

Your idea and I'm afraid it's a rampant idea within this industry that is more or less "If you can't do it, we'll find someone who will" does not leave much in the way of the workforce willing to bend and flex to cover the business demands. Your way of working out who 'deserves' a job shows just how brainwashed and whipflexed you have become with the way many companies behave. - It's this way of working that leads to 0 hour contracts with minimal pay.

The workforce is good, full of all the knowledge needed to run a successful and profitable business. Maybe it's time that those up above actually took time out to hear some of this instead of applying a military dictatorship to the working strategy.

A lot more needs to be done throughout RM to improve it's work rate - at all levels - It's how it goes about it that will decide whether it will succeed.

The workforce are not numbered robots consigned to working to barked orders. The sooner this fact is realised, the better.

Having worked in the city/town centre for a number of years as a spare...all I can say is bring the competition on because listening to so many customers throughout the city in which I work couriers are a bit of a let down.....many are always asking me where's this... where's that..who's this...can I drive up there...many of them are just clueless and basically thick(and quite a few are sacked ex posties )...furthermore they constantly door step items(not leaving packets next door)...very often I have seen some with my own eyes sign for an item on their PDA and lob the packet over a fence and we are worried about idiots like these???
Many of them can't even speak our language....(or even read perhaps)....all I can say is based on my 20++ years at this company Royal Mail are by far the best out there....the British public have a simple choice.....use these pretty awful couriers and reap what you sow...or use RM because basically we are BETTER than any couriers....RM managers are always forcing down our throats about how the competition are taking our work and are a real threat....verging on paranoia...if our gaffers and senior bosses showed they had a degree of bottle and business sense then we'd wipe the floor with all couriers...our senior management in my humble opinion have failed the hard working staff of this great company for too long and ALLOWED competition through the back door....instead of shutting it in their faces...and coming from the building trade whoever says posties don't work hard or are lazy or have had it too good are talking out of their rear end.
This job..especially nowadays is both physically and mentally draining...by the time I have done my loops I am totally ....fooked...too tired to take my kids out....usually get home and nod off in seconds...(not even having the strength to finish off my dinner) ...if we had a level playing field then couriers wouldn't last two fooking minutes.
You guys are the BEST out there...no matter what anyone says on here or in the courier.

I do sometimes think that these stories about tnt deliveries are just propaganda. We are supposed to have had tnt deliveries in my area for about 3 months now. But I have only once actually seen a tnt guy delivering around here. That was a week after they were supposed to have started, it was about 4pm on a Saturday. A couple of days after that I saw a tnt guy riding a tnt bike on the main road. Those were the only two tnt sightings in 3 months.
I seem RM postie almost daily. So have tnt decided it's not worth their while and are just downstream accessing their mail to RM?

No sorry you are quite wrong here. :hmmmm

Being regulated and subject to strict fines RM are more interested in quality of service than how fast you can work. This is why managers bonuses are based on tracked parcels quality and customer complaints.

By working faster and cutting corners you are more likely to make a mistake or have an accident. Both of these will be to your own detriment in the cold light of day in the doms office, .
