Work 5 weeks on -I week off and loss of holiday?
At our office we work 5 weeks of 6 days and then have 1 week non attendance. But we lose a weeks holiday ! Does this happen any where else and why?

I think this is called the wallingham way or something like that. I cant see how you would lose a weeks holiday, you get your entitlement like everyone else.toooldskool wrote:At our office we work 5 weeks of 6 days and then have 1 week non attendance. But you could book your AL around those weeks and use them for your benefit. You could end up only working 75 percent of the year ( i think?!) lolcomrade wrote:not for me 6 days hard slog especially with todays volumes it was bad enough doing this when i started in 1990
for me this is a step backwards

We do the same at our office. Thought I was getting ripped off at first. But when you think you're already getting all those extra weeks off losing 1 weeks holiday is a small price to pay. And in theory you're not losing any holiday. Just that you're entitled to so many days leave per year and normally you'd book 5 for a week off, but as you work a 6 day week you have to book 6 days for a week.

I rem when the SDD came in and we had the option of this, although we voted it out because of working 6 days.
And yes you do lose a weeks hols,it's summin to do with the weekly hours you work.
You're not being stitched up if i rem,it's just the way it is.
