Yes I did, but since I was responding to the post I highlighted, it doesn't really matter. Yes, there's competition out there, applying pressure; but as already stated we will adapt to it. RM gets it's critics, but I believe we are a trusted brand.
My point about lower management is in regards to them flapping as much as we do. I will not take that kind of pressure from a manager, knowing full well that my working methods are way more than adequate.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
mail hardly makes us any profit now anyway.
We are & will become more & more of a packets company, which is why everyone who are new recruits in delivery must be able to drive.
I see a future where we are all on our own in vans delivering packets/parcels with very little mail, but this may be some time away.
packets are where the big money is so thats obviously where the company will go.

I think that was always on the cards regardless of the impact TNT has although it may speed up the process, remember that RM have for a long time been managing the decline in the letter market and for most of the previous 5 years have struggled to break even with the letters business. Letters reduce the cost of delivering parcels which allows us to undercut the opposition with our small to medium parcel streams but as a stand alone product it makes very little money.
I would be far more worried about how the parcel side of the business is being managed, particularly at local level where management have completely failed to resource this properly or even understand its significance to the future of the business.
