Lost count of all the people who have not been paid for going over their time over the recent years, Don't do overtime bring it back after telling them before hand hopefully the DOM has his new walking boots with the money he has saved to do what is returned if he has finished his 18 holes!

A Royal Mail contractual right as opposed to a statutory one though? Otherwise it would apply to all workers?TrueBlueTerrier wrote:That's fine, but the Bank Holiday is a statutory right, and if its your day off on the actual Bank Holiday then there is a statutory right to use it later (ignoring the complexities of those that have 6 weeks a year as opposed to the 5.6 (including BHs) that is the minimum requirement for a FT worker (by days not hours)Rory wrote:Many private sector workers (including myself in the past) retail/carers etc work bank holidays for flat rate though?TrueBlueTerrier wrote:jack wrote:The DOM in our office has also tried to defraud folks of their annual leave for which they are owed. , solely for the purpose of financial gain I should imagine
I would make certain that he has failed to credit bank holidays or wiped them off because if they have they may be in a world of hurt if anyone pushed it. Bank Holidays, and Bank Holidays Credit are, I believe, a Statutory entitlement and they cannot just wipe if off, its illegal.

It does apply to all workers - its just that because our annual leave for new starters and Public Holidays as a total come to just over the statutory amount that makes it complicated.

This means that most our public holidays are included as statutory.

New starters in royal mail get 4.5 weeks at 5 days per week = 22.5 days with 8 days public holidays that brings if up to 30.5 days - or just over 6 weeks .Almost all workers are legally entitled to 5.6 weeks’ paid holiday per year (known as statutory leave entitlement or annual leave). An employer can include bank holidays as part of statutory annual leave.
This means that most our public holidays are included as statutory.

So if its illegal to refuse to pay out the overtime, shouldnt nearly all DOMs be in prison? The law needs to get its act together and crack down on companies not paying out overtime. Remind me of how many million RM makes in PROFIT every year, and how much of this they STOLE from its hardworking employees?

Well it's all bonus driven for the DOM s I think, until this type of cultures removed I don't think nothing will ever change, where there's a saving to be made the greedy DOM will exploit it I think. For example all the meal relief skippers aren't actually encouraged to take it because it's another good way of making a saving, but if anything went tits up it would be used as an H&S issue....same as the non use of trollies.Jpro747 wrote:So if its illegal to refuse to pay out the overtime, shouldnt nearly all DOMs be in prison? The greedy bastards will try any underhanded tactic to make a saving whether its within the realms of the law or not

Who's the "greedy bastards"? The DOM's or the meal relief skippers and the trolley non-users?
