Significant media coverage as Parcelforce Worldwide starts Sunday deliveries

Following the launch of our Sunday delivery service this weekend, a range of national and regional broadcasters have covered the launch. All titles have noted that Parcelforce Worldwide is the first national postal carrier in Britain to offer Sunday deliveries.

Newspapers including The Telegraph and City AM have already covered the exciting new service in the run-up to the launch.

Growing popularity

Under the headline ‘Parcelforce starts seven-day delivery service’, Sky News comments how we hope this new service will particularly benefit online shoppers. This is picked up by The Daily Telegraph which states ‘Royal Mail has started Sunday deliveries in response to the growing popularity of online shopping.’

The Sunday Express includes the detail that luxury grocer Fortnum & Mason is the first retailer to sign up to the new service. It also reports on the agreement we’ve reached with the CWU, quoting national officer Terry Pullinger saying ‘we are delighted that we have had an assurance that permanent employees will be used to deliver this exciting new innovation to customers.’

Regional reports

Both The Portsmouth News and South Wales Argus include local detail in their stories. The former quotes Fareham depot manager Bob Watts saying ‘Parcelforce Worldwide has introduced Sunday deliveries to enable online retailers to provide their shoppers with improved flexibility and choice over the delivery of their items.’

Meanwhile, the South Wales Argus notes that the local Newport Parcelforce depot ‘employs 75 people at its Maesglas Industrial estate base’ and quotes depot manager Anthony Abraham as he explains the aim of the initiative.

Same as we managed without Sunday shopping, with pub closing hours, no mobile phones and no flat screen TV's and no e-mail.

Not a single Sunday parcel in depot last Sunday. Everybody went home and everybody got paid
