The union is a democracy, we get what we vote for and the majority of who have voted have voted for what we have got, if your not happy with what the membership have chosen then either encourage change or you could leave, but encouraging people to claim fake illnesses is completely wrong and against the integrity of the honest posties in the majority out there

Why are union reps who hold the line shunned by the Union establishment?

Why is it ok for right wing organisations like the French Foreign Legion to never surrender but it is not ok for CWU union reps to hold the line?

The Union is only really democratic at the unit rep (volunteer) level. All other positions are controlled by nomination committees. Like in the Labour Party, members are only allowed to vote for the candidates nomination committees select.

How are nomination committees selected?

No wonder people are turning away from democracy and towards other alternatives.

By the way, I don't advice people to pretend to be stressed. I advise them to recognise when they are stressed and do something about it to protect their health.

so what exactly what information did the OP give you to be able to be able to confirm a definatove diagnosis of stress in this circumstance that would warrant it going on his medical records? you have have said specifically that the stress has worsened his health

and as said its the not the first time you seem to be able to diagnose stress without any mention of it in a posters comments

one guy was asking if he would be insured to drive a RM van and you recommended he goes off with stress

in your advice to managers facing a potential redundancy you recommend going off with stress at the earliest opportunity

your action make like of people who are genuinely suffering from stress

Your previous that has passed cannot be used against you, as this is 'spent'.

Wrong.
When facing the possibility of dismissal, your past absences are considered in the final decision.

You can refer to previous stage 3 warnings, as this will demonstrate an ability to improve on his attendance. Not really sure a missed RTW meeting will help his cause either. This is a tricky one and its going to be difficult to win an appeal.

At present LinChong seems to be the biggest cause of stress within the RMC community. I find him/her to be quite bizarre....

What's wrong with tin foil hats?? They stop the lizards from sending the thought control waves into your brain. :nervous
