Complaints after six post boxes sealed up

Royal Mail users have been complaining after six post boxes around Harborough were found taped up this week.

The boxes are in Coventry Road, Hammond Way, Connaught Road, The Headlands and two in Northampton Road.

Royal Mail spokesman Felicity MacFarlane said: “We are undertaking routine maintenance and repainting these post boxes.

“We have to close boxes for a short while this work is taking place and we are doing all we can to keep any period of closure as short as possible.”

Several residents contacted the Mail when they found the boxes closed off.

One said: “When I noticed the box in Coventry Road outside the medical centre was sealed off I visited the sorting office in Rockingham Road and was told they were unaware it had been closed and was also told that control of the boxes was the responsibility of an agency.”
