Flagpole, flag outside office, or framed photo of the Queen inside etc is also great but individual flags and junk, might not be ideal in some offices.
Its only a game but some take things too far...

We live in England. Quite why anybody should have a problem with an England flag being flown, world cup or no world cup is beyond me.In fact if you do i think you may be better off living somewhere else. Its not compulsory to fly one btw. And lets be honest England probably only have a few more days left in the competeition anyway!

Re: Royal Mail ban England Flags
Truth be told some people just do it to wind up certain sections of society and are not even that "proud" to be english or have any interest in sport whatsoever.I live in a town that is probably 60% muslim now, i actually feel uncomfortable walking through the areas that are 100% muslim...but oh no..not the footy fans! They plaster their cars with flags, wear the england kits/caps and drive through these areas shouting "come on england!" So is that being proud/patriotic? Or is it simply trying to incite racial tension and have a pop?
That is obviously the extreme end of the scale i know some people are just fed up with not being able to have a nativity play in their kids school or being asked by the council to refrain from selling poppy's outside the church in case it causes offense to the local muslims... i could go on....and on about all the things that get us irate about it all but i think the whole england flag thing is just a bit tacky and obvious. Most of the proper footy fans i know have none of that going on.
Anyway why should it bother anyone? It should not bother you because you are at work.Do what you like after work. Why do people feel the need to have flags or caps etc at work?

Good point! Fair weather Englanders!TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Anyone got one displayed in their living room.
Its just a bloody show off thingy and bandwagon.
No one is against England flags as an official thing or in cars or people houses but we do not need folks cluttering the workplace with cheap tats.
In the same way as some Cemetry are beginning to cut down on those poundland decorations around tombstones - flowers - nice but cheap plastic stuff or huge banners and flags in public cemeteries is a bit OTT, to put it mildly
* I like the way they do it in some schools or places where all the flags are represented and pupils are put into adopted groups for each nation.
Its a game not a political statement!

Why should it bother a muslim more than anyone else? If they were born here they are english too. If someone shouting "come on England" incites racial tension, i suggest they have a problem with living here not the other way round2pints wrote:Truth be told some people just do it to wind up certain sections of society and are not even that "proud" to be english or have any interest in sport whatsoever.I live in a town that is probably 60% muslim now, i actually feel uncomfortable walking through the areas that are 100% muslim...but oh no..not the footy fans! I'm not really bothered about England flags as it's only about kissball sorry football, but try and tell me I can't wear a poppy and then I would object.

If they are that offended clearly it didn't deter them from working in the English part of the UK (and accepting Banknotes with "Bank of England" printed on it) they should expect that an English flag is bound to be flown at some point in that part of the country as also the Union flag for the United Kingdom, I am not offended if somebody flies Welsh/Irish/Scottish/Gibraltarian/Jamaican/Rastafarian etc.

Re: Royal Mail ban England Flags
It looks organised so its likely that it was discussed before any flags went up. If people displayed flags without checking first, then I can understand why they were refused. Thats understand - not agree.

Yet still nobody can show proof that there is a RM policy that prohibits the display of England flags.
Which for those that missed it, is what this thread was about in the first place.
