Don't know about anybody else, but it was far better than feared today - apart from the inky fingers! Spent the first hour and a quarter of the day putting every single one in the frame, then delivered where we were going with mail. Numbered every one left in the slots, probably much less than 20% of them as it was a fairly heavy day, mail wise - light on parcels. Took us an hour over our finish time, which we didn't mind doing.

The duty I'm covering tomorrow, they did it a bit madder, in my opinion. They put 50% into each frame and then cleared them. I've no idea why they bothered prepping them into the frame if they were doing that, seemed pointless to me. Never mind, each to their own, eh.

Beautiful day, glorious sunshine and I’m getting paid to wander around in it. You can’t ask for much more, can you?

As for the rag – well – easy-peasy, wasn’t it? The only downer was the black hands.

All done and delivered today, now normal service can be resumed on Friday.

It's because some people are stupid. There's absolutely no point putting them in the the frame after they've been prepped when you're going to every house with them, it's just wasted time. It's also quicker to carry a bundle of d2d at the back of the mail when out on delivery because your not flicking through d2d's to check where the next letter is.

It was a lot better than I expected today, packets were fairly light for a Thursday and we finished dead on time after taking just over 50% of the papers. No going in early, no staying late, no nothing except working our time.

Well we walked in this morning to a message saying that due to sickness lapsing hasn't been suspended for the 2 days!

Naturally I said no lapsing for me please only to be told it would be there tomorrow - whatever!

Others were going out the door before I'd even started throwing off my sequenced.

After folding them Tuesday after early return to DO, and throwing them in Wednesday after an early finish, came in this morning planning to do every one today. And I had a bloody mass mailing, a sodding booklet in a poly bag to every council tenant which is about 70% of the round. Threw them in and yes! a whole tray of those f***ing A4-sized V*rg*n M*d** tw*tting envelopes, which no house seems to escape for more than 3 or 4 weeks. Most packets so far this week and another 4 trays of flats. Un-b*astard-believable.
So, kept to plan and delivered them all but had to work my time plus another 10 minutes which is trivial I suppose. My hands kept remarkably clean probably being washed by the sweat rolling off of me in 26c sunshine. (For you Northerners/Scots that's 79f and the bright yellow disc you sometimes see silhouetted behind a cloud, if the cloud is thin enough.)

Anyway, all done and delivered now and didn't see one refusal or notice on a door refusing the rag.

There's me thinking about an easy Friday now, I forgot about bloody Father's Day this weekend...........

Only 50%? I thought it was meant to be 80% on the first day? Or are they talking about the overall figure for all posties? We did about 90% today.. mainly because of all the bloody mail that came in.
How convenient to have a load of mail come in today, about twice the amount we normally have on a Thurs and also nearly every bloody door too!

The mail from the centre was well down. Never seen such a light Thurs. Got out 20 mins early, had two extra bag drops. Took out 60% and finished 5 mins before time. With a normal amount of mail I would have struggled over.

If its lightened tom then sat / mon will be hell.

On a normal day i often go an hour over, but really couldnt be bothered today, so just worked my hours. Easy enough. My mails just been delivered at 6.40 this evening so some poor sods out doing the cut offs. Same tomorrow for me.
