Re: Can you Refuse to Deliver The Sun Leaflet
As I'm a welsh postie I don't think I will ever have to deliver a World Cup special edition of any newspaper , but when we have council newspapers , census or any official material from government , utility's or other large organizations they are twice the weight of those in England , Scotland or NI as we have both English and welsh translation

Re: Can you Refuse to Deliver The Sun Leaflet
Every d2d contract will expect 2 day delivery after this. And I don't agree we should have to do it anyway. 3 days to delivery full walk of normal d2d 2 of by the way then 2 days for the s $$ what a crock of . I asked my dom what's this costing then his reply was 22 million erm sorry 22 million delivery points few more than 22 million households in UK u think. I'm repeating what a fellow colleague said this morning

29 million delivery points in the UK but you have to exclude Scotland, N.I, Wales and Liverpool. 22 million delivery points doesn't seem an unreasonable estimate.Csalter456 wrote:Every d2d contract will expect 2 day delivery after this. Re: Can you Refuse to Deliver The Sun Leaflet
I am not at all surprised that management and a totally inadequate sales team have come up with this, but I am incensed that our union went along with it without realizing the genuine disgust people have for this publication
We were screwed over D2D delivery supplement when it came in and were assured that we had a full six days to deliver them. we are now up to 5 D2D's per week with little or no regard for prep or weight. Now it seems that the commitment to 6 days has been re-written without consultation with or consideration of Delivery staff welfare. The Union big boys and girls are kidding themselves that the new co-operative approach is anything but one sided. D2D's are being used by management as a tool for harassment on a daily basis. I have been told by so many customers today that they will be handing them back to me. Will there be an argument over the Excess i bring back to the office...you bet ya.

No we weren't screwed over the supplement.enskied wrote: We were screwed over D2D delivery supplement when it came in and were assured that we had a full six days to deliver them. we are now up to 5 D2D's per week with little or no regard for prep or weight. We were never assured we would have 6 full days to deliver them. The issue of day specific D2D was in BT2010.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Can you Refuse to Deliver The Sun Leaflet
If you could have faith in a professional management structure that would properly resource a day specific D2D then obviously ignoring the specific moral objections to this particular posting we should embrace more work.
Unfortunately going on past performance what's more likely to happen is that weaker offices with poor managers looking to earn brownie points for delivering this on the cheap will get rolled over and members will end up pressured, intimidated and bullied into working late and using unsafe methods of delivery.
It's a bit of a false argument to say that all extra work is a good thing, all properly resourced and managed extra work is, throwing extra work at staff without proper control measures in place is a recipe for disaster both from an employee point of view and a customer quality/repeat business point of view.

Re: Can you Refuse to Deliver The Sun Leaflet
I just "hope to God" that there is less corner cutting of delivery methods over the coming two days, less than any other day so far this year. Do the job properly and safely, go over your time for SA rate or insist on finishing once your contract hours are done. Take your paid breaks, remembering about the extra 10mins paid break after 9 hours work, which given the workload is likely for many walks. If you go over, claim your deserved o/t, don't be tempted to flex (especially more than the agreed 30mins in a single week) and make the daily budget look more rosy than it was.
Playing the charity volunteer, giving the company free work time (or cutting corners for the sake of your h&s), will make this week's chaos more attractive for RM to repeat this wonderful week again.

Re: Can you Refuse to Deliver The Sun Leaflet
We have not been paid £23m for this contract. Royal Mail have not said how much we have been paid for it. Around £1.5m would be a reasonable guess since the normal price for a D2D of this type over six days is about 6p per item. Obviously there will be a premium for delivering it over 2 days. There is no way they are paying more than the 1c price for a D2Dk979aaa wrote:£23,000,000 this is D2D one day delivery they can charge what they want whether we can deliver it is entirely another matter!

Re: Can you Refuse to Deliver The Sun Leaflet
We got hammered today with every house mailsort for the local housing association. DOM says " take 50% we're not having three Shite days "
IU said " six shite days.. We delivered our normal D2D's Monday ,Tues, Wed..remember.? " DOM stubs a fag, gets up off a seat and walks back in the office.
