It isn't about supporting a football team, It's about the 96 people who died, the majority of whom (57) were from the Liverpool/Greater Merseyside area and the complete violation of their dignity and memory be a "newspaper" run by some of the most pathetic excuses for human beings ever to pollute the gene pool.Bobbyk wrote:If Scousers don't have to deliver it then neither should the rest. We are all paid the same. Most Liverpool fans don't even live in the Liverpool area. There are at least a dozen lfc fans in our office which is 150 miles away from Merseyside.

How anyone can defend taking 600-700 24 page newspapers over the 2 busiest days of the week for no extra payment as 'job security' is laughable. You can only be managers - so get your trainers on this Friday, you're gonna be busy!

Re: Can you Refuse to Deliver The Sun Leaflet
I still do understand how people can be forced to accept a newspaper through their letter boxes. These are not d2ds for a particular (usually local) business but multiple businesses because the Sun actually are advertising through this mini-newspaper. They front or back has David Beckham advertising something - a mobile phone or something...
I think this is unprecedented and opening a large can of worms. A newspaper is not the same as a Council Bulletin which simply gives information about local issues and absolutely no advertisement.
Newspapers have agendas and the Sun is simply trying to bypass the usual ways of advertising such TV, Radio, Mags and High Street giveaway (such a the Metro). They have colluded with RM to misuse the charter of RM as the deliverer of mail - something which cannot be refused.
And it is the Sun! RM is probably being set up by the Sun and their owners (after all, they have vested interest in TNT).
* I do not know how much they are getting for this but advertisement on these scale to 20 odd million people through the guise of free newspaper must be worth a huge amount. If this was online and being paid per clicks - just imagine.
And TNT could not have got this contract because they do not have the network for it. They do not cover the whole country - they will be steaming and plotting against anything that RM might be getting from the government - tax exemptions to start and then the rest...

I actually think that TNT are better placed for this sort of work. So RM might simply be opening the door for TNT to make shed loads of money and further expand. Why? Because there posties deliver very small items and they work individually using a bike.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

It's not about Liverpool fans. It's about a shitty rag of a paper using the deaths of 96 people to denigrate them and those who survived. 96 people with mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters and countless loved ones who were told that those they lost were nothing but worthless drunks, hooligans and thieves and then were lied to and told to fuckoff for the best part of 20 years by the state while right wing rags continued to pour scorn on "self-pity city".
Personally I have nothing but loathing for The Sun - It's got a history of celebrating deaths, stalking people, casual racism, attacking unions and downright lies, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. I'll be working to rule and leaving piles of the shitty rag. I can certainly understand those who don't want to even touch it.

Re: Can you Refuse to Deliver The Sun Leaflet
If people really want to make a point of it, i think there could be enough reason here to justify refusing to deliver them, so long as RM allows people to opt out of delivering BNP leaflets etc. The fact that its not being delivered in the Liverpool region is in itself evidence to the fact that it is controversial with some people.

"Royal Mail said requests not to deliver the paper will be considered on a "case by case basis". Sally Hopkins, Royal Mail spokesperson, said: "The Sun has chosen not to include Liverpool in the mailing. If there are any personal reasons why a postman or woman would not want to deliver the mailing, we would consider these on an case by case basis working closely with the CWU."

Seconded just cannot agree why the bloody hell the CWU agreed to go along with this for the sake of money over principals yet hang on!CharlesSpooner wrote:Bobbyk wrote:If Scousers don't have to deliver it then neither should the rest. Re: Can you Refuse to Deliver The Sun Leaflet
Aside from the objections to delivering this crap, what about the general public that do not want this rag put through their door?
I think there need s to be a campaign on social media to get anyone not wanting it, to write on it "return to sender" and stick it back in a post box. I wonder if RM accounted for that in the price they got paid to deal with these.
