Sun giveaway:D2D 12/13 JUNE

Not read every page, for obvious reasons. Going from the last four pages of the thread I have read it seems some people have been told they've only Mon through Weds to deliver their normal D2D's for the week so you've only The Sun garbage left come Thursday.

I've asked about that at our office and that is not the case. Management are obviously panicking and getting indoor staff to ram as many of the weeks D2D's in the frames by Weds but no one has actually been instructed that they need to have completed their normal D2D's by end of Weds.

We were instructed to complete the other D2D by Weds as part of a joint CWU/management brief.

As far as I'm concerned I want a full time job. I hope we get much more of this kind of thing. I want to see more part timers made up to full time. RM's whole business plan seems to be based on less work and less people. Nobody is making you stay out there all day doing these things for nothing. People saying RM don't pay us for doing them. They do, we get wages every friday. I wasn't happy about loosing D2D money either but we have, get over it. If you don't like the job, leave. Its easier said than done though and most jobs out there pay far less than we get. Really guys, get a life. When I started in the job we had one bag a day, 2 on a thursday and you got the hump if you had bills come in. Things change, we just have to get used to change. Its not easy and sometimes I shake my head with what I see and hear but at the end of the day it is work.

i dont think people have a problem with hard work its just that most can not complete excessive deliveries and dont like confrontation with managers. Where else do you have to argue when you want to go home at the end of a shift on time ?

I agree, from experience though, a lot of people, the ones who complain most and make the most noise about it are the runners, early starters and ones who don't take breaks. The ones who still get to finish early. The rest of us just work our time and either book the excess or bring it back.

Actually don't think it's going to be as bad as people think - got back to DO at 12:20 today after finishing round and lapsing so still over an hour of RM's time to work. Used it wisely by prepping them. The DOM had them all locked in a secure area so had to ask for and sign for my 520. Folded them all and stacked them is 100's and it took 35-40 minutes, so still went home 30 mins early. June is a light month so take advantage of it before moaning - it's do-able. If you're framing them make sure you bash the spine side of your pile after folding them as this makes them twice as easy to slide in without catching at the back.
Plan is Weds tomorrow we'll finish about an hour before time and spend 20-25 mins throwing them all in the frame before going home. Deliver to all addresses with mail Thursday and the remainder Friday, numbering them if necessary. Simples - no stress, o/t or arguments. (And NO we don't come in early or run...)
What could possibly go wrong?

you know this is the mindset of probably at least 25% of this workforce unfortunately.
All people have to do is work their contracted hours.

Hey Moya you`ll be pleased to know I wont be upset or stressed about these newspapers, heck bring on the Mail, Independent, Times - dont be shy stick the supplements in too ! Im all for it ! Just know that I`ll be working my specified hours and not a second more. If mail volumes mean I only get half my work done (or less), then so be it. I just hope you have a plan in place for the mail that gets brought back to the office as Id hate people not to get their items in a timely manner.

Well you've no choice to deliver and he's no choice but to accept it - he's not the customer the Sun newspaper group is, he can then do what he likes with it. When I was a young lad we cut newspapers into squares and hung it in the outside bog - the only bog we had and we considered ourselves fortunate, a few streets away they shared an outhouse between three dwellings.
