We've been told our d2d's must be completed over mon, tue & wed. Thurs & Fri deliver the sun. The sun must be delivered without any other d2d. But i'm reading conflicting reports in this thread. You would think this being the first d2d of its kind being delivered on specific days they would get it right!

It's Royal Mail for god sake. Why on earth would you expect them to get it right?wookie wrote:We've been told our d2d's must be completed over mon, tue & wed. Thurs & Fri deliver the sun. Re: Cutting Off Next Week Whos Cutting off
I have a copy of that agreement and there is nothing set in stone that states you MUST take a whole load of door to doors on a given day. It leaves scope for it but doesn't outline how to execute that scenario. In any case, it's left open for local debate and whether it's feasible to do so. The actual agreement is to balance the d2d workloads across the week. Taking 350 24page newspapers in one day is a logistical and health & safety issue. Most walks in our office do not have trolleys plus we haven't even reached the looping shared vans stage yet. So national agreements to us mean very little when incompetent managers can't even modernise our office.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:To confirm the BT2010 agreement opened the door for day specific D2Ds, and here we are with the first.clashcityrocker wrote:No.Bobbyk wrote:Isn't there an agreement that you are obliged to take 20% of door to doors a day?

Which idiots agreed for us to deliver the sun over 2 days? Its not like they are small light election material, they are bulkier and heavier. And on the busiest days of the week. We are always told to conform to health and safety. So how do we do that when overloaded with mail and packets, on loops which are in many cases too big?

I'm going to be breaking the duty into much smaller loops so that no weight limit is broken. This will obviously take longer and I'll get paid for every minute i work, just like normal.Postaltony wrote:Which idiots agreed for us to deliver the sun over 2 days? Enforce overtime??? Please ask him to put that in writing for you, I guarantee he'd never sign his name to that statement!
He's completely and utterly wrong as ALL overtime in this job is voluntary (though often a great deal of 'pressure', i.e. pleading or in this case sounds like bullying, is applied when they get desperate).
They can change your hours with proper notice but only the start/finish times, and so that your total hours are the same.
If any of them tried that on with me I think I'd just laugh at them. How ludicrous.

All right, settle down.
Royal Mail has received a complaint from the Mayor of Jerusalem.
Apparently, no one can get near the Wailing Wall with you lot in the way.

I believe they can add 30 minutes to one day of the week, but you will have 30 minutes taken off another day, they can do that once per week. Pretty sure thats right but someone will have it in writing somewhere.lillywhite wrote:Can you just cut off? I think its the fact that people do have a lot of pride in their job and try hard to get it completed everyday, but they are getting piled more and more yet have no longer any time to do it all.Straight4ward wrote:All right, settle down.

Lets face it RM wont stop trying to make duties longer and/or accept every d2d contract they can until pretty much every postman cuts off everyday then RM will know theyre at maximum capacity.

You're talking about flexing. Again that is entirely voluntary.
