Trying to get Holiday time off with a temporary contract

Post by JackJones »

Hey there sorry if this is the wrong section as I wasn't too sure if it was something the union side would be knowledgeable for.

So I had been an Angard staff and then I was offered a temporary contract two months ago with a delivery office. Since day one I have been trying to book time off for a 3 day Holiday (Which I have accrued enough Holiday days for) in four weeks time from now. The reason being so short is that I work a weekend shift and will actually be going on a 10 day Holiday but only need 3 days off of scheduled work.

I have good relations with my shift manager and had been told because I am only on a temporary contract that I wouldn't be able to fill out a usual holiday form as the days would have already been taken, he said he'd be able to sort it but it might be unpaid and not classed as using a holiday day ( which I am fine with), just fill in the form and hand it to him. Now when I reminded him last week he said that he didn't have the power to do anything and I needed to fill out a holiday from and hand it into the writing room. I did this, and yesterday I asked him about it and her had no idea what was going on with the form as I've had no response.

I will be going into the writing room today to see if I can sort this out but I don't have high hopes due to his tone.

Which is why I am writing this preemptively and I was wondering if there is anything else I can do or should be doing?

Any help is much appreciated and sorry for rambling and making this so long

You have given them enough warning so if you don't get it involve the Union.
