Re: Sun giveaway
Royal Mail Workers at the Skelmersdale Depot have just released the following Statement
re: delivering the S*n next week
Next Thursday & Friday the sun plan to send out through royal mail 22million copies of a world cup edition of the sun
Liverpool, Warrington and some CH postcodes are exempt from this, however as it stands the staff in Skelmersdale are being told we will have to deliver them
with the backing of the CWU this morning we informed them that if any copies of the sun cross the gates we will walk out
weve been urging people today to voice their concerns about this by ringing customer services
any support would be greatly appreciated, lets stop 60,000 copies of that shite going out
customer services number is 03457740740, get this around twitter ,facebook etc

Get the sun leaflet delivered lads
Lads I keep hearing people moan about the sun newspapers I know it's a pain but lets squash TNT together and get the big contracts over to royal mail to prove we can do the job. If we fail TNT will be loving it. It's job security at the end of the day and if it means gas being made up because we get busier it's all good. Just think of it as another door to door work to your time and cutt off let some1 else book the docket lets not be the laughing stock of the media and let other big contracts slip by because TNT will get them and it's that easy now let's do it for each other and the job security not the w*****s managers our collegues

There are physical limits to what you can fit in a trolley (HCT or LWT) and a physical limit to what you can fit in a van.
You have a start time and a finish time so there are 3 possible scenarios.
1. You complete within your contracted hours.
2. You go over and claim SA for the extended.
3. You cut off.
The rest is just searching for mountains where only molehills exist.
It seems to be the favoured occupation of some.

Re: Sun giveaway
we been told NOT to put them in the frames because it will be too difficult and time consuming to get you're mail in with them. soooo, we have been told to take maybe 15/20 out your bag and put them on the back of your bundle, and deliver as you go.bustedflush wrote:Nah, if you read the previous posts that would be impossible as we are getting them in bundles of 100 and have to fold the bastards in half to put in frames, so no.halfull wrote:wont they be shrink wrapped?k979aaa wrote:A bad back and inky fingers possibly cancer from the ink and the SUN in our eyes every drop!bustedflush wrote:RM is getting an extra 20 million quid. 110,000 posties. Do you get a bigger bag and do you have to eat three shredded wheat each day to lift them for f**k all?daveyeff wrote:we been told NOT to put them in the frames because it will be too difficult and time consuming to get you're mail in with them. soooo, we have been told to take maybe 15/20 out your bag and put them on the back of your bundle, and deliver as you go.bustedflush wrote:Nah, if you read the previous posts that would be impossible as we are getting them in bundles of 100 and have to fold the bastards in half to put in frames, so no.halfull wrote:wont they be shrink wrapped?k979aaa wrote:A bad back and inky fingers possibly cancer from the ink and the SUN in our eyes every drop!bustedflush wrote:RM is getting an extra 20 million quid. 110,000 posties. It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Sun giveaway:D2D 12/13 JUNE
OPERATION RAG WEEK
In a somewhat perverse sort of way I’m almost looking forward to this. I know they’re coming, I know I’ve got to deal with them and I just want them done and out the way.
For sure I’m going to find it tiring; I’m not as young as most of you but it presents something of a challenge and cracking it will give me a bit of a lift. My Saturday pint (or several) will taste a bit sweeter next weekend.
One thing I’m not going to do is throw a strop like some moody teenage tart and flounce around saying “I can’t do it! I can’t do it!” Of course I can do it. It just requires a bit of extra effort and a later finish, or two.
In a way it’s a shame that it has to be The Sun but even this has bitter/sweet connotations. On the one hand it’s a newspaper that I despise, on the other, given News Corps and TNT’s long shared history, it’s good to see us get one over on the orange bastards. They couldn’t do it, we can.
There is unlikely to be anything contentious in this freebie version, other than the ridiculous over-hyping of England’s chances. I’ve handled election leaflets containing statements far more at odds with my beliefs than any tripe that’s likely to be printed here.
It’s good business for Royal Mail, which is good for us. Let’s not screw it up.

TBT you may need to put something like this on the "front-page" of this website.
It's not the best idea I know but each time I look there I see a new "thread" where people are asking the self same question about this rag of a "newspaper."

That's fine if you want to finish late, plenty of us don't. This week I got my post at 6.30pm on Thur and 5.30pm on Friday, those times are a joke and you'll never see me out at that time.Straight4ward wrote:OPERATION RAG WEEK

Yes, I could do them, and I'll work at a good pace as usual and do as many as I can. But I'm contracted for 39hrs work not 43 or 44 so I'll be finishing on time,
It's ok saying stuff like this is protecting our jobs, but if all this shite keeps piling on us the job won't be worth protecting any more. This is a prelude to day specific D2D, you'll get 4-5 lots to deliver in the week then others appearing that all need to go on a certain day.

You're actually complaining about the company having more work to do? Good grief, what hope have we with that sort of attitude? Will you be happy when there's nothing to deliver but six bags of letters for a whole town and it just takes one guy to do it instead of six?OnAFlyer wrote:That's fine if you want to finish late, plenty of us don't. There may be loads more work to do next week but nobody is saying that you have do do any more than your contractual obligation, as you have pointed out. I can't understand why this bothers you, unless you don't normally have to work all your hours?
