Re: Cutting Off Next Week Whos Cutting off
They will have to be successful at this one first...
They might expect us to be delivering those items I mentioned (tongue in cheek for some of them) but I hope they will come to their senses and stick to their core business and not destroy the goodwill from customers and posties alike.
Some people (even those outside Liverpool) will not be happy to be receiving unsolicited Newspaper from the 'Sun' - a newspaper that is not entirely politically neutral and not averse to outlandish headlines and causing upsets to sections of the society.
The other thing to bear in mind is that RM ability to deliver unaddressed items to customers might be jeopardised if the sort of rag we are delivering really start a negative reaction from customers about the whole idea of Opting Out instead of Opting in.
RM is now a private business and they will end up losing some of their privileges and protections with time... But getting us to deliver bulky and often unwanted items might just speed things up.
And then we shall then lose business. * I feel exactly the same way delivering too many d2ds in a week - this is not an inexhaustible market.
*** So managers now have to dedicate resources to this or heads will role according to a poster. As if all managers will heed that advice - some will try to protect their budgets as usual; some will not pay the OT or clear the way for this silly project. More aggro for posties and with posties.

No, it's 22.3m Items and probably 10-15p per item at a rough guess so between £2m and £3mish.cyclemech1 wrote:As Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland and the Liverpool area aren't getting them, are News International really paying over £1 per item?monkeymutha wrote:There's no incentive for us to do this. Just makes a hard job harder and expect grief when I will refuse to overrun. Doing normal junk mail in three days is bad enough without thur/fri shite. £21 million for rm we get f**k all.
having seen the original LTB originally it was going to be an 80/20/5 split but a lot of dom's have allowed DO's to do 50/50
the thing thats gets me more than anything else is the fact RM won't even name the S** as the buyer, it calls it operation Pride!!!!
I have refused to deliver it and my dom has arranged for this to happen and has been very sympathetic towards me ( there are some good eggs out there, you just need to open a lot of egg boxes to find one )

I'm wondering how many people are refusing. How many people even know that can refuse?doorstepped wrote:

I'm almost wishing I was at work next week just so I could refuse.

Re: Cutting Off Next Week Whos Cutting off
I keep reading that these D2Ds and the likes of the sun D2D are protecting jobs, I'd like to know where and how. I have been off the last couple of weeks and know through a work mate that my walk wasn't touched for 4 days the first week I was off, now it's going round in circles with different walks each day being left because 3 of us are off (small sub) the same time and no-one to cover. Before the last agreement we hardly ever had D2Ds in our office and had plenty of staff around to fill in when someone was off, not now though. I see the likes of the sun D2D as money in the pockets of Moya and co, not in job protection.

At the end of the day we are all shareholders and employees, and it's work, company profit and more o/t hours if necessary. Would you rather TNT got the papers, delivered them in towns kept 90% of the profit and chucked us the remainder? (like with their letters.)

Re: Cutting Off Next Week Whos Cutting off
I raised this point AGAIN this morning and was told it's BS - again! The DOM said we just do the door-dustbins as we would any other week. Luckily we only got one next week, and as back in the office at 12:30 we threw the whole frame off when we got back and still went home 15 minutes early as we had a light day. It seems that nearly everyone in our office has either none, one or two which makes me think that something is going on and contracts are being held back until the week after the Scum delivery.ebbzie wrote:Surely one of the main problems is they want us to cram a weeks D2Ds into 3 days!!!!
