Where's the logic? Don't the idiots realise that with every poxy contract like that Sun crap, complete meltdown gets ever nearer?
Royal Mail Management, the biggest bunch of idiots I've ever had the misfortune to work for.
I could not agree more.

They are definitely not going to be making £21 million. The transportation cost, OT and other associated costs will erode into whatever profit they will be making...

We should not be delivering newspapers. This is a slippery slope. County newsletters are one thing but a 24-page newspaper along with normal workload in 2 days is asking for trouble in terms of stress, H&S and a load of very knackered and annoyed posties and customers too.

And we get nothing extra. How does this particular act save jobs. The Sun should be going to the Job Centre to help people that are really hard-up and give them whatever piece-rate to deliver their newspaper.

Once the Sun has got away with them which other Newspaper next, and which company will next be asking us to deliver large samples of the products. D2D are really not supposed to be bulky and should be easy enough to assimilate into our workload.

You're not wrong, mate.
After all the cuts we've endured these last dozen years, the workload which has increased, as walks/staff have decreased, that workload must always increase further in order to protect our jobs.
Is it any wonder that the wealthy in this country take the absolute piss out of the working class?

Just to add that it is hard enough trying to get letters thorough some of the letter boxes; and it is annoying as it is to find free local papers sticking out of the letter boxes or turned into paper machie in and around the letter boxes.

They will not fit into many of those outside standalone letter boxes or the old style letter boxes that are less than 6 inches and some even vertical and cast iron, and there is the low letter boxes that will snap your fingers off or those too low that bigger letter just stop moving...

My arthritis is going to flare up in massive way next week. :evil/mad

Good to know that there are others who see beyond the bullshit spouted by both Royal Mail, and the CWU. :wave

My biggest fear is once we have compleated a weeks D2Ds in 3 days it becomes the norm and expected.
"You did it last week why can't you do it all the time" springs to mind.
It could never happen could it :left:

You may partly escape this time, but if next week is a success for rich Royal Mail bosses, and rich owners of whatever group owns that rag, the Sun.

There will be a next time, and you may not be so lucky.

According to the LTB, RM did not consult the Union in their negotiation with the Sun and then resorted to blackmailing the Union to help them out when they realised that they might have bitten more than they can chew.

The top management are still as useless as ever. So they think they will be sending a signal to the Direct Marketing world that Royal Mail 'can do' and can move into some areas of revenue streams that they currently cannot reach mainly because of competition or reticence from some direct marketers.

So does RM want to take over newspaper delivery or what? And what else?

As highlighted, if this can be done in 2 days without extra pay (OT does not count) then they can go out and boast that they can deliver other bulky d2ds - things that normally get delivered through addressed mail and/or in other ways such as through folks in town centres and supermarkets.

Poor paper boys and girls! :nervous

If Royal mail could get away with it, They would employ staff on Zero Hour Contracts.
Things have got this Bad. I am not against Leaflets or promotional material at all, Or even starting
extra Delivery Services or other ideas. I think it is good for RM to explore new revenue opportunities which could
be good for growth. But the Delivery rounds should of been adjusted to take this into account.
When its Christmas we all go the extra mile. I think people have just taken this as the norm that
you will work over on the odd day, But Hello its going to be Everyday Soon. Its about time that the company
gave the opportunity for more employees to have Full Time Hours instead of trying to turn this into a
part time Job, When it is clearly is not. Employees should be rewarded for the extra efforts and part
time should mean part time if that's what the employee wants. This Company Could be Managed so much Better
which will generate growth and be more profitable if handled correctly. I can only see RM shares on a slow decline
from now on - No growth, And RM is clearly Taking the ???? out of its work force. We all like a bit Overtime but not forced.
We all want our jobs protecting, But this is just too much. RM are making massive profits, So they should reward us.
Please all Royal mail Staff, You all know what you should all do next week, Work to Rule and your Hours :thumbup

Which agreement is that from? Please provide a link.
Or is it just some more s**t you have made up?

And if you don't want to deliver D2D - then don't.
Just tell your manager you refuse.

I suppose you do understand that taking work that you cannot do does more harm than good. There are many examples of companies that have gone down this route... Why do you think RM all of a sudden went pleading to the Union to help them out when they decided to take on this project without thinking of the full implication.

This are now trying to save face and this sort of work will lead nowhere and will not enhance RM's reputation in any way. On the contrary, they might even get bad PR from it; especially if it rained on those days with loads of newspapers scattered all over the place as paper machie. They might be getting bills from local councils for the clean up.

There might not be an agreement that says that D2D should not be bulky but it is common sense. We have a small frame to fit the letters along with D2D and even very small packets. Bulky and numerous D2D will change the way things work and that is so obvious.

* There is some info about D2D on the RM website somewhere - you can do the research but, of course, you cannot be bothered, it is easier to spout off... And be his master's voice.

It is not about just any old work that saves job but sustainable work; also looking after the employees also helps - it is not just about the money. There has been many companies that are reported to be making many many millions and just folds because revenue is not profit.

Newspapers are not D2Ds!

Elsewhere you claim it will lead to us delivering other newspapers and nappies etc.

They are testing the waters and if they get away with this then we can expect to be delivering bulky samples of Oats, Baileys, Nappies, other newspapers and so on.

Which is it?
