I can confirm that they weigh 56g. will come in bundles of 100 and will come flat. (i.e not folded.) They have to be folded and prepped into frames.
The person responsible for putting out the D2D will put these out to walks in DO`s and will need to know how many residential delivery points there
are on each walk. These are in addition to other D2D products being delivered next next week. I am disappointed the CWU has not put out any
communication yet on the practicalities of prepping and delivering these over a 2 day period. What we need is a union that communicates.....

Introduction
Royal Mail has won a major contract (22.3M items) for a Door to Door drop across most of England, it will be delivered over two specific days only– Thursday 12th and Friday 13th June.

Product Specification
Each item weighs approx. 56g, and is tabloid newspaper sized and requires folding.
The items will be presented from the WBC in bundles of 100, so most walks can expect a number of full bundles and a residual bundle to make up to the correct volume for all the residential delivery points.
It is essential that the items are delivered over the two day period Thursday 12th / Friday 13th June and NOT before.
The booking is for all English postcodes excluding L, some WA, and CH etc around the L postcodes. There will also be a mixture of postcodes included and excluded on the Scottish and Welsh borders.

Delivery Office Operational Arrangements

As a result of this Door to Door contract both parties have agreed that the normal arrangements contained within the BT 2010 Agreement for delivery arrangements will be adjusted and strengthened, and the following will be put in place for all delivery offices.

Urgent discussions will take place between the DOM and CWU rep to agree suitable arrangements including replenishment and feeder services to support the delivery of this item. Where necessary release will be provided for the CWU representative.
All normal Door to Door items will be delivered during Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so that all Delivery routes are clear of all D2D items before the special items arrive and the commencement of delivery on Thursday 12th June.
Summer Resourcing plans for the w/c 9th June will need to be revisited to ensure the bullet above and the 12th/13th D2D items have been fully factored into any plan/arrangements for this week.
Any requirement for additional indoor hours during Wednesday 11th June will be discussed and agreed as necessary to enable the special items to be allocated to each delivery frame. This should be done in any period following departure from the delivery office on that day.
Where required additional hours will be introduced for the Indoor operation on both Thursday 12th and Friday 13th June in order to get individuals out on to delivery in advance of their scheduled time. These hours should be identified in advance and committed to by individuals who will be paid at Scheduled Attendance rates.
Where extended delivery takes place on either or both Thursday 12th or Friday 13th June to enable all products to be delivered to specification, exceptionally this will be paid at Scheduled Attendance rate.
In all instances H&S will be a prime consideration.

Any individual concerns will be handled sensitively in line with fairness, dignity and fully respecting the views and sentiments of individuals. Local CWU representatives and DOM’s will work together to agree sensible and amicable solutions.

Any operational difficulties should be immediately raised with Delivery Directors and Divisional Representatives for resolution and if necessary with the National Delivery Director and CWU Assistant Secretary for resolution and practical solutions.

That's all very interesting but it doesn't say how this vast amount of extra items will be able to be delivered IN ADDITION to the normal workload for those days. Most staff in our office won't work overtime and a quart into a pint pot will not go!! On large towns walks there will be no chance whatsoever these will be delivered on time as well as the usual daily mail

Just seen this on the bulletin boards on interactive investor.Anybody heard about this ?

Royal Mail have won a new contract on the door to door items across the entire UK on the dates 12-13th June. The items will be newspaper tabloid size and under agreement with the Union for Agenda for growth for the very first time the items will be delivered over two days instead off a week for the standard d to d items.
If succesful this type of contract could become the Norm for Royal Mail showing off there ability for direct media advertisement which its real and connectable with the entire UK in one advertising role out..
