All management have blood on their hands. F#@k them ALL. With one sentence they will cosy up and tell you how productive the office is working. Next you will be below performance rate. Time for lapsing guys. Good riddance. Crozier was right 3/4s of them are not worth a f@#k.happy11 wrote:1300 Managers souls gone...... many blocking , its coming our way so before you laugh at the managers just look at whats coming next....... shameful that all goes towards the City and the hedge funds ...... so before we slag of the local manager best look at what is going on #allinittogether

How many levels of management do you think you'd get up before reaching a level where none have worked their way up through the ranks?

That's an interesting question. Do you only include people who started as postmen or also those who entered at clerical level in admin. roles or on the counter?

Knowing business and actually knowing THE business are two completely different things.

Possibly the top 3 Premiership managers of recent times (Mourinho, Wenger and Ferguson) have all had very mediocre playing careers. (Four if we include Brian Clough)
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Football is football. The rules are the same no matter what country you play or manage. You also have to have coaching badges.clashcityrocker wrote:And knowing THE business and knowing business are also two completely different things.venger wrote:

So are you saying that someone who knows nothing about football could come in and say "I played championship manager 97 on the PC. I can do this" would know the business or know f**k all really?
I can't believe you're defending her and comparing this woman to a football manager.

I'm not defending her.
I don't know who she is or what she does.
I was simply pointing out that your statement about knowing business and knowing THE business was irrelevant. (and perhaps childish and immature)
Having been a postman for 40 years wouldn't necessarily make you a good manager (at any level)
Never having done a delivery wouldn't discount you from some managerial roles.

Re: WHO THE BLOODY HELL IS SUE WHALLEY
People change industries all the time at this level.
Adam Crozier (if you can avoid wanting to spit at the mention of his name) started with an ad agency, went on to be chief exec. of the FA before becoming chief exec of RM. He is now chief exec of ITV. None of these companies would seem to have a direct link to one another.
People get appointed supposedly for their business knowledge, their decision making, their previous successes.
I don't seriously expect the senior management to work, or have worked, at the coal-face, I do, however, expect them to have knowledge of what that entails.

It's not completely irrelevant as you need to know some basics about the business you're running.clashcityrocker wrote:I'm not defending her.

I did business in college. Does that mean I can run any business? No, of course not. If I WAS to accept a position, I'd make sure to do research on ALL levels. Not just the top brass.
I realise business is all about making money, but to have a business run smoothly, you need to know what's going on. Heck, it was one of the first things I ever learned in class.
I agree about the 40 years in and having no clue, but 40 years in, SHOULD give you enough knowledge of how things work on at least the floor level.
I'm not going to get into a huge debate or run multiple scenarios, but IF and that's a big IF she helps the business run more efficiently and CONSULTS with people other than the yes men in the ivory towers, then more power too her. But if she's anything like some of the area managers I've come across who know sweet F.A about the business and make mistakes on a basic level, then she's utterly useless and could end up costing the business and me money.

They remind us of the USO - even if there is one letter for every house every day , we must take them, I think the USO sucks! This is why there is no time to do the packets, they need more time to do, especially tracked and signed for.
