I will be in England and will also be smug because I will be on holiday - but there will be a note on my door asking my top class postie not to bother delivering the Sun freebie ... in fact I will make sure that he knows before he needs to add it to his workload, and it might be a good idea if the rest of you do the same !!!

I measure it to be 56g a copy, I believe my kitchen scales are right. Remember 24 pages of tabloid is only 6 big sheets of paper. Still a heck of a weight when multiplied up, but it's not like the weekend copies with all the fat supplements! Also, no more bags on the shoulder so the weight doesn't matter once you're on the road - even the paperboys round here go around with trollies nowadays.

Nobody believes me in my DO either, nor did my local newsagent!

Just seen this on the bulletin boards on interactive investor.Anybody heard about this ?

Royal Mail have won a new contract on the door to door items across the entire UK on the dates 12-13th June. The items will be newspaper tabloid size and under agreement with the Union for Agenda for growth for the very first time the items will be delivered over two days instead off a week for the standard d to d items.
If succesful this type of contract could become the Norm for Royal Mail showing off there ability for direct media advertisement which its real and connectable with the entire UK in one advertising role out..

RM are going to have to get these out to the DOs at least 1/2 a week in advance, there's no way they're all going to fit onto the runs from MCs to DOs over one night

Er, as the Sun's NOT a newspaper there's no need for it to be written, printed, distributed and delivered in 24 hours so, yes, at least ½ a week in advance should be fine.

While we don't know the weight and dimensions of this "D2D" yet there's a good chance it will take my and others HCT over the weight (and capacity) limit so i will obviously insist they bring the remainder out to me, hope i don't have to wait too long for replenishment and end up cutting off :-)

We also have the people who only complete their duty by using the HCT as a mobile drop box, with the weight and bulk they will have to push the trolley around which will come as a shock to the system for some

A little dickey bird told me that if we had other D2D's that week we would have to clear them by Wed, leaving Thur/Fri for the National drop, what say you all?? On top of that SAVINGS start the same week, you couldn' t make it up

does anyone know if these are definately coming in?? the Dom had everybody in the middle of the floor today to talk about summer lapsing, and someone asked about the mass mailing of the sun newspaper on thursday and friday next week. the Dom just shrugged his shoulders and said he'd never heard a thing about it, are you sure you've got it right? where's the source of this ''rumour'' come from....ive never heard a thing. !! now i may be cynical, but surely you would think the management of the d.o,s would've had some word by now. there just seems to be too much info about it, for it to be just a rumour. unless of course the are trying to keep it quiet so as not to trigger mass sick/absence.
