You need to get management to pull their finger out and stop people coming in early.. in breach of insurance policies and H&S etc.. The trouble is they won't do it as it helps them get the office clear and if people are stupid enough to come in and work for nothing just so they can get out "on time, when they clearly aren't doing so because they've come in early well more fool them. Working for nothing and still running around like headless chickens.

Come in at your correct start time and WORK TO YOUR CONTRACT. Don't do anything more than the required work. If you have to cut off then do so, and when doing so make sure you have a witness with you when you inform management of your intentions. Don't go over your hours and bring it back. The more people that do this the sooner the better as it will force management to reassess deliveries and the delivery spans. Then you may start to see a difference in the office. But don't hold your breath.
If coming in early really is "in breach of insurance policies and H&S etc" then explain how it is in breach of insurance policies and H&S etc. and involve the CWU. :nana :nana

you simply wont stop it,they wont change, not sure why it seems to have crept ,so they can get done and home.and then moan because another round gets lost.i agree, managers should make a point, but they wont.thats how we function now on good will and cutting corners to save time.its a slippery slope my friends,be afraid.be very afraid! :no no

All the staff at Bexhill Delivery Office start at the same time each day, nobody is allowed to start early.
At 9.00am everyone downs tools and everyone has 40 minutes meal relief.
Guess what................ they don't have any lapsing

Unfortunately there seems to be a culture among workers that working fast is the most respectable thing to do, its like a competition of who can go the fastest, whos out the door first and whos back first will be crowned the king. Sad really. All you can do is sit back and laugh.

Been offline for a few days and looked on here and I found someone doesn't seem to "like/appreciate" what I posted so thanks for posting this response..
Saves me having to add the same comment.. as a response to my comment asked why this was needed.
Common sense really, some people couldn't give a toss about H&S. Management included so it seems. This isn't confined to any one particular office either, it's prevalent across RM.

[No doubt this will illicit a similar response to the previous one about my original post too] :cuppa

No, but I can equal it - I pulled up at a delivery office one Saturday morning around 10.30 ( yes , I was working ) and as I was unloading along came a couple, man and wife, who I know. They were not in uniform. I said hello, you've finished early -reply - oh, it's our week off, we've just come in to throw off next week's D2D' s. FFS !
