I don't know if paper rounds have changed much over the years but I remember back when I was a paperboy many moons ago I used to cover a few rounds when others didn't turn up. The smallest round had about 40-50 calls, the largest was over 70.

Now as a reserve, the smallest duty I know has about 400 calls, the largest has over 900. I know it's not a Saturday morning job any more but it's still going to be attempting the equivalent of 15-20 paper rounds on top of everything else to deliver! Doesn't bother me BTW, more work for the company is a good thing, and I only have to do my hours if I want. I've a feeling there may be plenty of OT available when these turn up though...!

People still don't believe me about this. Even when you show them the news online about it in "The Grauniad" as well as info elsewhere, including on here.

no matter what size they are unless the paper is made of anti-matter then 100 x 24 pages of the thinnest paper known to mankind would be like carrying a coffin to yer own grave.Youll be lucky to get more than six doors in a bundle when the regular mail is added-that's until some bright spark thinks of carrying two bags round one with the regular s**t another with the Scum and it will be the classic response of ' ill never get finished otherwise'..
