Yes,time and a half when I used to work there. But that was 7 years agoindio wrote:Why would RM want to pay those rates when it can employ people to do it within there normal hours???? Do Tesco's pay there staff extra for working a Sunday?baldrick wrote:In Inner London the Sunday hourly rate was £10.66 iirc, and there was never a shortage of people in MCs who needed some extra money.

That's why were askinghubbahubba wrote:Yes,because its been the case for years in a lot of MC across the country. You obviously don't know anything about Sunday working,or you would have known that...gluteus maximus wrote:Do you honestly think Royal Mail are going to pay £40 premium to staff who will work on a sunday as a normal working day? Any sunday premium will be kept for the time being as that will have been agreed betwen the employer and Trade Union. If this sunday working was then rolled out on a national basis as a normal working day, that premium will have to stop. It will simply not be cost effective to have staff working on a sunday as a normal day and pay the current sunday premium as well

Re: Sunday Working
Sunday delivery for packets /parcels will only thin them out for the rest of the week but we live in a 24/7 world. If RM can win more business and pay an enhanced rate for Sunday volunteers to deliver then it's a good thing. It helps those of us who could use the extra income .Hopefully the CWU can ensure correct pay. My concern is there are always people willing to do overtime at normal rates and the dims know this.

Be good if its optional as and when you want to do it.A few hours early on a sunday would suit me.If it was just driving van and doing packets will be easy money. Most people will be in on a sunday too but not sure how they would feel about being woken up!

Re: Sunday Working
The Sunday ot rates were called 'double time' but in reality they were only a few pence more than the weektime hourly rates in London.indio wrote:Why would RM want to pay those rates when it can employ people to do it within there normal hours???? I don't know about Tescos, but I worked for a major retailer as a Xmas temp and they did get a Sunday premium of about £1.50ph above the normal hourly rate. They used to get double time, and that was really twice the normal hourly rate, but that was scrapped a few years back and only still paid to staff who were employed at that time as 'grandfather's rights'.

Re: Sunday Working
Take a look at the contracts new starts have been on coupled by the at least 3 people a week that ask me if RM has any vacancies and you'll see that there are loads of people out there that would happily work on a Sunday and at much less pay than we get. Its us that have been in the job years that are costing RM a fortune and have inflexible contracts that are a problem hence RM aren't too sorry to see the back of us if it can get us out.monkeymutha wrote:How long until all delivery offices are delivering on Sunday? Will it be rota'd into the week? Compulsory? Who would look after my kids?
