Davd Paddison, delivery manager at Royal Mail's Derby office, hands Isobel Fordham her Wembley tickets.
A GRANDMOTHER who brought tickets to Wembley to treat her family received them via a special delivery – after they were wrongly addressed.
Isobel Fordham said she was getting concerned when the Championship play-off final tickets she bought for son James Robins, 37, and grandson Ethan Robins, 12, did not arrive by Wednesday as expected.
The 64-year-old later learned that Royal Mail staff had attempted to deliver them to a different house in Vicarage Road, Mickleover, because they did not have the correct address on them.
But Dave Paddison – delivery manager at Royal Mail’s delivery office in Midland Road, Derby – said staff realised the envelope would contain Derby County Wembley tickets and wanted to help.
He said: “After our driver Chris tried to deliver the tickets, he brought the issue to the attention of one of the managers, Pete Baker
“He then contacted See Tickets for help as we recognised the envelope was likely to contain play-off final tickets, as many of us had received our own.
“Pete was told an error had been made with the address and they were actually for Isobel Fordham. The letter had been addressed with a different number on Vicarage Road.
“He managed to contact Isobel to let her know that we’d got the tickets and I then arranged to take them round to her personally.
“As Rams supporters ourselves, we’ve been caught up with the excitement of the occasion and are happy to have helped out here.”
Isobel said: “My son was so relieved when the tickets turned up and we were so grateful for the trouble they went to getting them to us.
“He hadn’t even told my grandson we were worried about them because he would have cried – Ethan had told all his friends at school that he’s going to Wembley.
“I just wanted to give them both a treat because these things don’t come around very often and, after his dad took him to Derby County matches, James now just wants to take his son too.”
