It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

As soon as TNT stop whinging about our Vat exemption, our proposed new charges for DSA customers o and the fact their so rubbish at delivering letter cause Royal mail has had a 350 year head start.
Innovation lol it letters through a letter box yet they cant even do that correctly. And wheres their redirection service? Its basic stuff TNT. And choice? What choice? Customers in London don't want TNT delivering their post. They have gone the media to tell them such. So give the customer what it wants!

Brian, as I'm sure you are aware, to most RM employees in delivery, the customer is the person who's letterbox you're posting the mail through.

I suspect you're right but of course that would be wrong.pinstripe wrote:Brian, as I'm sure you are aware, to most RM employees in delivery, the customer is the person who's letterbox you're posting the mail through.

I've heard this argument before but to be honest it doesn't really hold up to closer scrutiny.Brain Fury wrote:I suspect you're right but of course that would be wrong.
Both sender and recipient are customers since although the sender may pay RM or in this case TNT directly at the end of the day the recipient usually pays for the service indirectly one way or the other.
This is obviously especially true in the parcel market where recipients may actually be directly paying the supplier postage costs but also feeds down to the letters business where the cost of sending a utility bill will indirectly fall to the recipient through higher bills. Since complaints are mostly initially driven by the recipient it pays to remember their importance as a customer in the delivery chain at all times. A customer of our customer is obviously always our customer too.

You are accurately describing a supply chain. However, our responsibility is to deliver the service that the sender has chosen and paid us for. It is not to interpret what the recipient (the customer of our customer) wants. If the recipient of our service is unhappy with it they will make this known to the sender who can then decide whether to change the service or supplier. We have no role in that decision.fishtank wrote:I've heard this argument before but to be honest it doesn't really hold up to closer scrutiny.Brain Fury wrote:I suspect you're right but of course that would be wrong.

Not exactly as the initial purchaser of the service can request delivery to safeplace/neighbour. We are therefore carrying out the instructions of that initial purchaser and in that respect that person becomes a customer for which we provide that service.

Re: TNT Nick Wells: "Stop whinging Royal Mail."
So why is delivery to neighbour being enforced when most customers IE the sender only wants it delivered to the recipients home address! Is this another cost saving measure even though we disrespect our paying customers wishes and expectations! Remember delivery to a neighbour is at the sole discretion of the OPG nobody else even MANAGEMENT!Brain Fury wrote:You are accurately describing a supply chain.
