Manager redundancies.
Bristol Mail Centre waiting to hear very shortly on fate of management grades. All have been assessed and given redundancy quotes. Possibly only 5 managers per shift to be needed and only 2 on the weekends. There may be some buy downs to part time as well. A lot of managers will be leaving before the end of June. Stress amongst the managers has already taken its toll and I'm afraid it will only get worse with the final announcement. Everybody always knew there were too many of them and why did each position have a buddy to form pairs. There was even a manager with only 2 staff to supervise for 4 hours! We all got used to it and just accepted that this was the way it would always be. Now that someones realised these excess managers are taking a way a quarter of a million pounds every five years, the end is not actually a pretty sight to see. Watching people who believed they were gods a little while ago sink to the bottom, isn't revenge, its painful and stressing me out a bit.

Re: Manager redundancies.
It's going to be the same in all mcs, and it was inevitable. It's been said on here for a long time, but managers were arrogant and thought it couldn't happen to them. Now with privatisation the chickens are coming home to roost. Well they had been telling us for years that change and job cuts were progress, so they are all in it together with opgs now.

Re: Manager redundancies.
Most of Allan Leighton's 'rottweiler' managers are not wanted any more. They have done their job so now they are being let loose on other firms. Ignorant bullies who gave favours to CWU grade bullies to recruit them to terrorise others to absorb the work of those whose jobs have been cut were needed in larger numbers in the run up to privatisation.
Reward is still used as well as bullying but instead of promotion to higher grades, the flooding of the labour market with cheap imported labour now allows employers like Royal Mail to offer the 'carrot' of a permanent contract to casuals who will never get to the finish line.
People need to wake up. Less good jobs means these jobs go to sons and daughters. Even the newest immigrants are beginning to realise if they work too hard, they will not get a better job or more money, they will only get to the grave quicker.

Re: Manager redundancies.
Some of us are actually chomping at the bit for VR. Still unclear whether we'll get it or not. Knowing RM, the ones (like myself) desperate to go with a decent lump sum won't get it. And then we'll be laid off in the next round of cuts with about 1/10th what's on offer now.

Re: Manager redundancies.
All MC's are now graded small, medium or large etc etc.
Each type is assigned a set amount of managers per shift.
Big cut in mangers needed, should start to see the changes by the beginning of June.

Re: Manager redundancies.
You older generation should think about what you are leaving for your grandchildren instead of making deals that leave you well off.
To all you old c***s who say you worked hard and deserve what you have, think about the youngsters who are doing 3 times the work you did for s**t pay and no pension and all the council homes that are not being built because you want your house prices to carry on going up. Also, think about how the labour market has been flooded with cheap immigrant labour and the schools that are overcrowded and underfunded. In your day, you could get a job in the public sector because there was a 60/40 split between appointments to those with connections and those without. The cuts now mean all jobs go to people with connections. We have gone back to the time of the Smiths, Bakers etc. when jobs were passed down from generation to generation.
And by the way, you greedy bastards who bought your council houses but still like to think you are "working class", f**k off. You are Tories with regional accents who thought you were crafty getting the private sector to deliver services but didn't look far enough ahead to see the queues and s**t service. You have ruined the country.
You have disgraced your parents' generation who fought a war for decency. You are the most spoilt generation there has ever been and you can stick your Daily Mails up your pile clogged arses.

It's a reasoned argument, there is no need for smearing.

"Reasoned argument"? Don't know about meths, more like a Victory Gin-fuelled rant.LinChong wrote:It's a reasoned argument, there is no need for smearing.
