i am intelligent enough to understand that unoffical strikes do no one any good ... and if you are not bright enough to understand that, then that is your problem and not mine .... do not expect support from me because rest assured i will not be taking unoffical strike action

But you will agree to E/A even though you went on strike against it?

Unofficial action will unfortunately resolve this dispute quicker.

yeah in the favour of Royal Mail ... the strike would be over in two weeks with the union destroyed ...people can't afford to go all out we have mortgages and credit cards to pay its not the 80's any more when most of us lived in council houses

As long as it takes. It`s the result that counts.

just went down to the main sorting office in liverpool, they are still out. Watched as the agency staff walked through the picket line! Managers taking people home from the late shift in the back of vans? Who said it wasn't the 80s .

The credit cards should help us as you can use a 0% interest card while you strike and pay it back when we win.

it was posted on here we had to agree to it as their is a clause in all our contracts that Ryal mail can change our start and finish times you were advised to start at your new times and our area rep said if you wanted ... you could have a local ballot and give your DOM a weeks notice of industrial action whilst working at the new times
To remind folk of the stance the Union have taken regarding the later starts.

Dear Colleague,

Management Executive Action on Later Start Times in Delivery Offices

Our members will be aware that, subject to a significant breakthrough taking place in negotiations, that management will be imposing later start times in Delivery Offices with effect from 8th October.

As things stand, we will be having national Industrial Action on 8th and 9th October but a number of Branches have sought guidance as to what our members should do when returning to work on Wednesday, 10th October. Some have suggested that delivery staff should be advised to turn up at their current duty times and finish their duties in line with present arrangements. The difficulty with this, apart from the fact that it would be deemed Unofficial Industrial Action and therefore likely to bring into question the legality of our National Ballot, is that it would almost certainly mean that if allowed to access DOs and commence work, Royal Mail will not pay for that period. Equally, the time from when our members stop work to the “newâ€

Well done to Liverpool and south London. If Liverpool hadn't made a stand years ago they would have no mail centre now. If all offices had the back bone of the scoucers Mr Crozier would be long gone!

Madness to go unofficial

Post by mailjock »

We have to pick our battles and not fall into traps set by management to divide us. Yea we are all angry at what is happening and I was out for three unofficial days last time before we realised what management were up to and trying for an all-out strike to destroy the CWU and the will of the majority of our members to resist.

So I have worn the unofficial T-shirt but I now realise I was wrong because I hadn't realised what a cunning, conniving enemy we were up against and oh so cynical - they were using our belief in solidarity and picket lines against us and to hell with the financial ruin that loomed for us and our families and which would eventually destroy our strike.

We have to follow the union line on this - let's work the hours as like it or lump it they would appear to have legal status. But let's put in individual grievances, don't use cars, work to our time, weigh bags - these are the ways to destroy flexible timings and we can tie them up in miles of red tape by individualy challenging the start times with union assistance.

Get stories to your local papers about how this so-called family friendly company is destroying family life, especially for those with young children.
