You're right to say every business has competition but do they have the same legal constraints that Royal Mail have? Certainly the current competition don't and so how long will it be before the current situation is not sustainable and RM pull out of those cast iron provisions in the current agreement?

spot on , RM has a nous round its neck , the USO. as more and more of the profitable side of the business is lost , it is unsustainable . how can RM save more money ? I think we are paid well in comparison to the TNT workers etc , but not necessarily in comparison to the cost of living. the cull of managers has begun, but the staffing levels are down to the bare bone.
there has been a network change and in our MC last night it was laughable. all these lorries turning up at different times than usual , some full of work , some empty and no staff to do the graft. 3 managers unloaded the work , just pushed the yorks off and left them where they stopped .
