as an investor he thinks its ok to go home an hour before his scheduled time after refusing a reasonable request (possibly leading to the payment of overtime to someone else) ? Again, I dont think its his job to be questioning how long other postmen take to do their deliveries.
Now, I can only comment on my office, but there are many - if not most postmen who will still cut corners, still come in early, still carry heavy bags on shoulders. Then make comments on the people who take longer but who do the job as we are constantly INSTRUCTED - using trolleys etc (which ill admit does take much longer)

This forum is for debate so I am not trying to undermine someone’s point of view but in replying I am trying to look at it from a different perspective.
" I dont think its his job to be questioning how long other postmen take to do their deliveries." what happens when you are being told by a manger that you are slow when your time is being compared to an other postie who is cutting corners To defend yourself, would you not then question how long that postie is taking to do that round is a wrong comparison as its not being completed in the way RM wants it.

I know what youre saying, but I think that would be a union issue, they would have to test you and your walk if they want to take it further than asking questions about why it was taking longer.

to the OP its not YOUR job to monitor others workloads or finishing times.
Without having any other knowledge of whats really going on here, just worry about yourself, dont expect to come back to the office an hour early and think you can go home. The 2 people youre talking about are obviously working all their hours, how efficiently is questionable but its also possible they have a huge delivery and/or they re observing all proper health and safety instructions including using trollies and not walking over gardens etc etc etc.
I think you being singled out is a bigger problem, maybe the managers can rotate who goes back out with failed packets.

The counter argument being that if we have efficiency as master of H&S and correct procedures then the costs involved in any subsequent claims may outweigh any benefits that efficiency may bring to the share price.

As with everything its balancing competing interests that the real skill, and its that which RM needs to get a grip off.
