Went in this morning to be told by my manager that I had 2 options either to get the sack and it would show on my record or to resign and it would not show on my work record that I would be sacked. Gutted, I really should have taken somebody in with me but didnt want anybody to see me in the down state I am in. Just want to say good luck to all u guys with your quest and will still be a regular on the site as I think its great.
see your CWU rep ASAP or get in touch with Chris Mc(area delivery rep) at Stockport also get intouch with the local media (Stockport Express M.E.N etc...) kick up a big stink.

If you are sacked after being offfered the chance to resign your dismissal would be seen as unfair. there is legal precedent around this. But..................................................anybody with you when you were offered the opportunity to resign?

Sorry to read about your personal circumstances but it really just goes to show that as individuals we are far better being in the union than not. Getting rid of the closed shop was a bad idea.

fight it and most importantly , screw some cash off them, they not only hurt you, they hurt your GF and baby indirectly, they have shown no consideration for you as human being and your family, the best thing you can do even if you can't get the job back is to hurt them back, in their pockets and their reputations, with enough publicty you plight will naturally have alot of public support and there are good employers out there who will consider employing you.

like pinstripe said fight it.

in my case I would kick off merry hell and play the Disability card or any card I can think off, I would be such an awkward bastard that they will give me such a big payoff to keep me quiet, no one f***s me over EVER and gets away with it without paying big time.

Drag up the s**t Royal Mail wants swept under the carpet , I've known people cause RM hell in the papers .
RM is like the Prison in The Shawbank Redemption -The World that makes "sense". It's all they know , everything is negative within a narrow box . Call their bluff or even double bluff them if necessary, it's what RM don't want you to do/bully you out / pull the wool over your eyes about so do what they don't want you to do. It's just a game but a game can have no rules ,all's fair in love and war .Also pick legal brains , RM's arrogance can be their achilles heel as traditionally RM are autocratic and regard themselves above the law .Their MAY be a outside chance of Hurt Feelings case outside RM.

Many Managers are overgrown Head Prefects etc that believe in the system as it's all they know, doesn't mean everyone else has to believe in it if you're just a number.

It sounds like RM want to give the impression that you left to escape the sack because if you got the sack , the DHSS would want to know why; and RM want the circumstances swept under the carpet. RM have always been very defensive & secretive but now they're paranoid .

I've been to Citizens advice this morning who looked at it and said it is very unfair and that a correct procedure hasnt been followed and I have been Bullyed into it, they passed it onto a solicitor who has just phoned me but unfortunately as I have been working there for under 1 year then I cant make a claim for constructive/unfair dismissal but due to the reasons why I didnt attend work were so serious then they have advised me to take a greivance with RM and fight it all the way, the only downside is if they in the end sack me it will show on my recorde but in my case they feel they have handled it so badly then I have strong reasons to fight it. First step, union, next step withdraw resignation, then off to the local papers.

The one year thing is why they wanted rid of you as they are very territorial and don't want you telling tales out of class . That's why RM are trying to get rid of 'old timers' by fair or foul means so they can hire and fire as it's management's right to manage according to RM propaganda . However RM like to put a oversimplified structure on things but it's not always that simple in reality

.Also I'm sure this is also to teach you a lesson about going on here too , it's the old talking yourself out of a job number that's why the bully tried to kid you into thinking he was playing the nice cop by telling you to be a good boy and going quietly he knows up the RM food chain people will want to know why boxes wern't ticked . Be careful RM will play dirty to discourage you from telling tales , don't fall for that one .
