Originally many moons ago the RFID (hoops above doors, exits) piece of kit was supposed to be installed in every MC, Hub and Delivery office in the land, but due to cost it was only installed into MC and Hubs and only a few DO's IIRCPhilthyPhil wrote:Do you mean the RFID exciters? These have been around for years. It is a regulatory requirement that we have our quality of service independently tested and the RFID exciters are used to track test letters through the network so they can see if for example they arrived at a DO but didn't go out until the next day

Had them fitted on all entrances/exits to our DO for years. Afaik they're just used to track test letters for regulatory purposes, not to catch posties out.

If RM make every single last item of mail trackable (I think it'll happen within 5 years at the very most), then the RFID scanners won't be needed anyway).
RM can tell from the RFID scanners if an item of mail with a tag in has sat in any RM office for longer then it should have for whatever stream of mail it is.

We've had these for at least 5 years
