i've done my own version

'people wanna come
and try to bait us
they don't realise
we aren't just haters
we just want the job done
as it should be
those who rush around
shame me truly

come in on time
take your breaks
do your van checks
it's all it takes

do the job like you should be
follow all the RM rules and live your life
then you won't have to explain
why you were made redundant to your wife'

i think I have a future as a poet :-)

The truth being that if they have served a long time in the company as you say they must be quite competent in their role. Just because other members of staff do not throw walks in as fast or walk as others does not mean they are not achieving the standards expected of them.

So when these so called full time employees are telling me to slow down etc..
Just shows what's going on last out office all time leave mail toss it off
Dawdle round get back late
Yes we'll done and I'm in nobody's arse
I just like to do what I can do without taking piss
You lot on here remind me of my break time
20 minutes of moaning whining full timers who shouldn't be employed
Why don't they just do us all a favour an get another job if they hate it so much

Full time employees are probably trying to keep the hours in the office against a constant barrage of frontline employees who still think it's "job and knock" that went in 2007, early finishes=Lapsing short term, less hours for the office long term, it is still your opinion that "they are taking the piss" yet you are not. It is still though what you perceive.

How long do you have to serve to get that label could some of it be down to age.

Distinct taste of ageism runs through this whole post of yours.
The assassin wrote:Staff get grief for doing a good job
Thats been the case in Royal Mail for years, you get grief if you do the job at a reasonable and efficient pace and follow the rules, you get grief from workers if you cut up the job there has to be a happy medium somewhere, but in either case its lack of managerial skills that allow both to happen.

RM give you NOTHING for being 'faster' than the next man. When job and finish was it, it was of benefit. Now it's not.

arthur was right wrote:All my posts on here are basically the same...but here goes again! Went into my DO today at my proper start time.. approx. 70% of frames had mail already in. yes they are coming in before their time. 15MIN TO 30 MINS.. D2DS GETTIN DONE IN their own time...not taking their breaks...running round walks..DONT BLAME MANAGERS..DONT EVEN BLAME OUR SPINLESS USELESS "UNION" .......BLAME YOUR CO WORKERS FOR COMPLETELY FUC...ING THE JOB UP! IVE FOUND OUT THAT YOUR BASICALLY ON YA OWN IN THIS JOB..
BUT AS USUAL I WILL WORK MY HOURS GO AT A STEADY PACE AND EITHER CUT OFF OR LEAVE A LOOP OR TWO REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEY THINK!!

hmmm. and in our D.O who is going to stand up for you...? 'i'm alright jack'
your on your own... best man for himself...
especially when you walk in on a temp contract... and the old boys dont want to help you. and you got kids to feed.... you cant blame them for wanting to get a better contract. and just looking out for themselves. the union have failed us. the reps have failed us.
in fact in our d.o... the reps are the ones who cut off... and their left over work is forced onto others... the reps are the only ones who get away with standing up for themselves.
the thing is... its everywhere. not just our d.o... so you can blame the grafters all you want... but we're doing it to save ourselves... because if we didnt... would you care if we lost our jobs?

Ah the sweet sound of naivety. In some ways I envy you for your lack of experience working for Royal Mail

What you fail to realise or perhaps not care about is the fact that we all started out with a similar working attitude. Boy would you have loved the old days when flying around really did mean you could finish by 10am, absorption was not even thought of back then.

However there was a flip side as most of us had some kind of second job as the money was very poor and difficult to actually live on. So were we any better off, no not really.

What we learned (the hard way) was that by coming in early, not taking breaks, using our cars and generally charging around just lead to the addition of more roads being placed on our deliveries followed by even more work in the shape of absorption. This continues to this day. Its simple really, the faster you work the more work RM will load on your back, there is simply no reward.

If your only in this job for the very short term then crack on as why should you care, right ? Ok that’s fine but if you stay a little longer on top of the extra work RM will present you with the wear and tear on your body will be far greater for working at a fast pace rather than a steady one.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Lack of naivety I've been here 14 years
Still pt reason for that is the posties who come in early taking hours out of office
Why when it's not job an knock
The other post was correct ft staff who don't give a damn about anyone but themselves
Never worked for a company with such selfish staff ever
And I agree not asking people to run around etc
Just does me head in when people say can't do this cant do that
Yet work with them an end up sitting in a van 45 mins to an hour a shift
