Re: Royal Mail Announcement - CMA Letter
Not a surprise.
Especially to those on here who predicted job losses prior to privatisation being completed late last year.
Many also said management would be targeted first.
This is round one.
Round two will happen soon enough.
And, it will be a lot bigger.
What are the chances that some of these losses will be nearer the top level? The higher earners, who will get a big pay off?
Then go and work for TNT and the likes, and do a David Moyes on RM.....

https://www.myroyalmail.com/news/2014/0 ... -programme" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Last month, we announced a formal consultation with our unions on a proposal to reduce the number of roles at Royal Mail. The vast majority of employees impacted will be in our managerial population. There is no impact from this initiative on frontline employees, including our postmen and women, or the services we provide our customers.
Today, proposed overall team structures for non-operational managers will be shared.
Due to ongoing consultation with Unite/CMA, structure charts and job descriptions for operational managers are not currently available. Operations structures will be shared with operational managers on Tuesday 22 April.
Later today, managers who are impacted by the programme will receive a link to the secure online portal to submit their preference.
Next steps
Subject to consultation, we expect the process to be as follows:
•Early - mid-May: Selection process
•Early - mid June: Manager process complete
•June: Targeted preference process starts for impacted CWU-grade colleagues
•July: CWU-grade process complete. Programme closes.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Royal Mail Announcement - CMA Letter
Looks like a very tight time scale to me allowing CMA very little opportunity to engage it's members or negotiate on their behalf.
Any news on whether RM has given any ground on the key issues that the CMA were hoping to make progress on ie:
a) a commitment from Royal Mail to no compulsory redundancies,
b) that the voluntary redundancy terms should be equal for all (based on the formulae used) and be at "ops"/mtsf level and
c) that a simple straightforward and effective redeployment process be negotiated and agreed.
My suspicions are that this is only the start and whilst the CMA represented admin grades are a fairly soft target the withdrawal of MTSF terms are worrying for all staff members.

Re: Royal Mail Announcement - CMA Letter
Certainly nothing on a and b and simple or not the process is in place. The new template and preference exercise for non-operational managers was announced last night. RM is not promising no compulsory redundancies. For non-operational managers minimum compensation is 13 weeks and maximum is 65 weeks but there is also an additional 13 weeks payment on top of that. Unless you are over 55 in which case the compensation is 6 months pay plus an enhanced pension paid immediately. I assume that Operational Managers get more but I don't understand the logic for this. My understanding is that this is the last time these terms will be offered and they will be reduced in July.Budfrog wrote:Looks like a very tight time scale to me allowing CMA very little opportunity to engage it's members or negotiate on their behalf.
