e-mail today.
i havent seen it, but the rep says he'd just read an e-mail today in the office, that said RM are asking if there are any full timers who wish to downsize their hours to part time. no money is being offered in exchange for the downsize though,,,,in other words,,they are looking to chop the workforce down to more part timers..without any cost to RM.

Re: e-mail today.
There is a signed agreement already in place and there is a procedure contained in the Buying Down ( hours) in the MTSF 2010 so RM if e-mail is correct is in breach of this agreement if they are expecting full time contract holders to reduce their contracted hours without any compensation payment for their wage loss and pension loss.

i think when its obvious there wont be any takers, they will start making offers, but it wont be much knowing RM.

Re: e-mail today.
Who in their right mind would want to reduce their full time hours without any compensatory payment to cover the loss of their income and the adverse effect it would have in their final pension and benefits. Buying down hours on a voluntary basis has been used in the past in cases of surplus employees and these volunteers have been compensated. If the e-mail is correct and putting aside the MTSF agreement the content of the e-mail wouldn't hold water as it is discriminatory unless there was volunteers willing to accept this and they have kept it quiet that they have won the lottery.

Re: e-mail today.
I think that is the whole point.rehabron wrote: unless there was volunteers
They are asking for volunteers.
There may be a million and one reasons why someone would want to voluntarily move to a p/t contract.
If there are no volunteers then they need to think again.
MTSF is up for review ......soonish?
It isn't covered by the 5 year legal protection nonsense.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: e-mail today.
apparently it is volunteers they are asking for. cant see many doing it though for nothing in return except lower wages and pension.
