Brain, the issue is are they both aware of the complexities of implementing compulsory neighbour drop-off of parcel? Both Moya and Sue Whalley said this during the recent Ops & Mod managers conference and Moya was quite taken aback when a CWU rep stood up and said that as far as he was concerned it wasn't compulsory.
We are not like the competitors - we also have to deliver letters within our contracted time. It is quite simple - the only way that will work is to have a more flexible work force that is, time to deliver will become entirely flexible - are that can only be done with PDA monitoring with posties banking hours or owing hours depending on how long it takes to deliver the letters and then packet plus knocking on neighbours doors.
The other thing is that our standards are a lot higher than the competitors - should we drop the standards and QOS just to keep up with competitors or should we also be docked pay if we did not deliver parcels the first time?
