Bloody hell. You must have about 80 full time staff and a daily traffic of about 25 000.
40 000 /44000=full lapsing,, 45000/49000 half lapsing,,,50.000 or over no scope....cant rememember how many staff but it'll be around that number.

at the meeting today it was said that there was not enough indoor work to sustain our duty structures,, on mondays tuesdays and saturdays. there simply isnt enough work...(there is, but they say there isnt) we said well take some time from those days and add it to our wed thurs and fridays,,,,ie. longs and shorts. they imediately came back and said that would cost the company extra,,because our existing wed thurs and fridays are presently 8hrs 50mins long. if the duty time on those days is added to, then that would take our times on those days to over 9 hrs meaning they would have to pay us 10mins extra meal allowance on those days which comes to 30mins for each full timer, impacting on their budget..... they have planned this out to a tee. they are turning us back at every thing we throw at them. the reps are saying theres nothing we can do.....we mentioned that ultimately any final decision is down to negotiation with us the members and if we dont accept it then it will be refused...they came back with ''well it will go to an independant arbitrator to make a decision, and ultimately it will be brought in....thats executive action we said....no it isnt because theyve brought an independant body in to mediate, who will find in favour of the company because the duty structures are unworkable.......they are going to bring this in no matter what by the look of it. they just do not want us on 9 day fortnight or 3 weeks on and one off......it wouldnt be so bad if the delivery spans were knocked back down to 3.5 or even 4hrs....but no. they are to stay the same at 4hrs 45min..they want it ALL THEIR WAY. no negotiation. i think we,ll walk on this. :evil/mad !!!

Good luck with that, you'll be back in quicker than a blink of an eye and in will come, guess who - the arbitrator/mediator.

I think it is the Agenda for Growth agreement Davey. There's always going to be a divide between what the staff want and what the workload will support. It would appear that it is now the job of the full time officials to get you back into work whilst mediation/arbitration takes place. There is a chance for you to test the resolve of the Reps at whatever level to defend the members against RM but I have to say that you would need to have a work plan that doesn't cost anything and fulfils the can do theory.

Only if you have the same coffee maker that makes an espresso, regular or cappuccino at the touch of a button, I hope your choice of bean is better than mine too Glenno. :cuppa coffee.

Either there is or there isn't.

the tools are their invention that can be manipulated/tweeked/fiddled/abused whatever.....ie. the amount of mail in the sequence trays are well below what they say,,,,and they also say the iwt allows time to run up d2ds.....we had 4 sets the other week which on the tuesday is a double day,,i.e two columns on each frame to prep,,amounting up to 2000 extra items of mail. this isnt included into our workload,,,,they say it is. it is not. also we do full lapsing on tuesdays.

also,, the very fact that they intend to keep the delivery span at 4hrs 45mins, speaks volumes. there is not enough work but the length of span is to stay the same.?? that is a contradiction in itself. also if they switch us over to 5 days that gives us a working day of 7hrs 48mins,,,,their plans= sign in, EVERYBODY on the ips. & packets,,they reckon 30 mins to clear everything (ho ho ho). now bearing in mind the delivery is 4.45 plus 10 mins to load and check van, 10 mins conveyance to where your duty is. and 10mins conveyance back. giving a total of 5hrs 15 delivery span. 40 mins meal break. this leaves 1hr 23mins to prep d2ds (could be 6 sets) clear down youre mail, prep in your sequenced mail then your manual, redirections, kill offs, prep a part timer in. get specials pdas van keys etc from locker......its laughable/impossible and confirms their utter contempt for the workforce

i here what you are saying dv, but as for testing the resolve of the reps to defend us, well, today one of the lads asked how things were going as regards to our duties,,he replied ''they are gone'' !!! this is BEFORE we've even been given our f*****g ballot papers !! stitched up like kippers doesnt even come close.....mutiny on the bounty comes to mind...it would seem the negotiating reps and management are hand in glove.
