DOM.Talking rubbish.

Our new DOM has told us reserves.That none of us will get a day off next week,as it's a Bank holiday week,& we are not allowed to claim o/t,& must take a days holiday later in the year.Can he do this?

Is he not just giving you all Monday as your days off? If you're on a rota I don't think he can get away with this but seeing as you're reserves I'd be surprised if you had a rota day off. Sounds very unfair anyway.

It's Good Friday he's giving us all off.Trouble is when we try & pick a days holiday later in the year,we never get them.

As a reserve don't you just pick up the day off that that duty you are covering has? For some it may be the Friday but not all reserves.

I bore the brunt of managements inability to stick to agreements or even their own made up rules regarding days off whilst a reserve. You did indeed get the day off that was scheduled for the walk you covered unless it was a Saturday or any other day they pay had difficulty covering. Asshats.

"Where an individual’s rest day coincides with a Bank Holiday they will have the option of being credited with a day in lieu equivalent to the hours they would normally work on that day or alternatively they can claim BH excess equivalent to the hours they would normally work on that day "
so you can ask for the overtime instead if you prefer. if all the reserves do this then the savings the DOM was gonna make by giving you all a lieu day that you might never get to take, go right out the window. he may then reconsider letting some people have an alternative day off in the week.
